I read that deer actually find it irritating?Yep, they all seem to have them in D14. I shot a little doe in D16 a few years ago (G13 tag) down near Julian, and she had them too.
Effective July 1, 2019, nonlead ammunition is required when taking any wildlife with a firearm anywhere in California. This includes hunting on both public and private lands. The regulation stems from Assembly Bill 711, signed into law in 2013, and fully phased in by the California Fish and Game Commission by 2019.
