YouTube/GunTube Policy change - what do you think?

YouTube is probably worried about potential lawsuits or something. I'm sure there was a meeting with some executive that had to go through multiple layers of approval for them to implement this policy.

My guess is that YouTube isn't generating enough ad revenue from gun content to make it worth their time to deal with those potential lawsuits.
Nahhhh. Their legal team is stacked. Who exactly will be suing them and for what?

Occam’s razor, they just don’t like guns. Much more likely than some boogeyman explanation.

If their fear is lawsuits why wouldn’t they completely ban guns the way tiktok has?

Either way, that just doesn’t make sense. That’s like saying they will ban energy drink sponsors because they’re scared of being sued over a kid drinking 10 monsters and having a heart attack.

I think they just don't care about guns more so than actually disliking them. If there was a lot of money to be made, however, that would be a different discussion.

not worried about lawsuits Google has the money and lawyers to drag a lawsuit out for decades. they are worried about advertisers pulling ads completely off the platform. advertisers threatening to leave kicked off the adpocalypse in 2017

What about Olympic and ISSF shooting competitions? Sponsor logos are all over their clothing, guns, etc. Top competitors are all sponsored by brands, Beretta, Perazzi, etc.

They are banned from YouTube if they are doing any sponsored content involving guns or ammo.

YouTube is killing sponsored Guntube videos. Only guns you buy on your own is allowed now. No more “they sent it to me”.

We have a home for you guys!

I’m telling you, it’s really tough in this space. Being blacklisted totally screwed me and my other business and now my rates went from 2.7% to 6-7% for cc fee.

My speculative gut reaction like many here is that the Bay Area progressives are trying to push out guntubers due to anti-2A mentality.

But personally, I’m not up to speed on the politics of this space. I only consume the content. (But I’m very picky on who I consistently watch. Mainly HumbleMarksman and Ben “drama lord” Stoeger.)

I don’t think they’re anti-2A as much as they cause more problems than help. If you look at the space, coming from tech, this niche is highly demanding, critical, and cynical. While at the same time have really nice people and solid connection. Like my toxic ex. YouTube just keeps them around, but the main reality is liability is high because people always like to blame everyone but the problem.

Guntubers or people in lawn care/landscaping niche which do you think causes less trouble? Landscaping industry is 2x firearms even with all their accidents.

I’ve been quietly downloading gun smithing videos from YouTube. Disassembly and reassembly of guns I own. Repairs. Modifications. I’ve got a hard drive with them backed up. I think it’s just a matter of time before they get taken down. If there is a complete disassembly/ reassembly of a rifle or pistol you own or want to build. I would download the video as a fail safe sooner than later.

Guess who’s going to be the new homie?

I apologize for any waves I might have made with members of this site over possibly offensive acronyms used while discussing youtube allowing content of youths sporting masks in the style of the rapper Poo Shystie, who are clearly using firearms equiped with unlawful modifications, in an unsafe manner. It's my first day, nobody told me.

Realistically this all is from left wing democrat folks. Most on this site apparently lean left so why so shouldnt there be joy!? This is who you vote for. Pressure from the bay area radicals make these companies keep going left and this is the result. Until we vote more Red, this will just continue. Sadly voting red seems useless most of the time because it is usually but it would hold against this type of action. Youtube owned by Google is just democrats who hate guns... nothing to see here. I hope it gets reversed as I love alot of these videos
