Legal SKS with arch angel stock Legality

Is it?
Did the guy who tried to shoot trump with the SKS with a black stock end up getting 922r thrown at him? Not arguing for or against, just curious since that's the biggest vase I can think of where an SKS in a stock was in a public legal thing.
He was not.
Count 1: Attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate 18 USC 351(c)
Count 2: Possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence (18 USC 924(c)(1)(A)(ii))
Count 3: Assaulting a federal officer (18 USC 111(a)(1) and (b))
Count 4: Felon in possession of a firearm (18 USC 922(g)(1))
Count 5: Possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number (18 USC 922(k))

I would, however, point out that the stock Routh swapped was not telescoping (which may be relevant to the "sporting purposes" argument)

Plastic stocks are trash any way you slice it bro. The SKS is best when left alone. There is an exceptionally beautiful Russian one on here for sale.

Why would it not be legal? Sks is legal, giving it a pistol grip does not make it an AW as it has a fixed mag.

I don't know what all this 922r discussion is about, no one is assembling anything. I have seen so many different varieties of bubba'd sks's both online and in person. If taking a rifle out of a stock and putting it into another one is a federal crime then there must be tens of thousands of felons living free among us.

Please don't do anything that isn't reversible to your sks, it doesn't deserve it.

my stock for the one I have is chipped and also looks like it probably went through a fire, which is the main reason why I bought it.

I didn't realize it was not telescoping! important distinction

Got curious and started doing some research. Apparently yea it would be a 922r violation? Hilarious law.

Some Blue Falcon needs to forward this thread to the CA DOJ so they pass it on to an assembly person who can write a bill to implement their own version of 922r into California Law so it can actually be enforced against individuals.

Haters gon hate

So, I may have been wrong on what I said about the sks portion. I was mainly comparing it with something like a wasr-10 or a Romanian build kit which has American parts in it; but according to this video it seems as if the sks is a different situation. The 922r compliance kind of make it somewhat of a roadblock for those with interest in making things more clone correct based on country of origin; although I have read that technically it is more of just a importation rule but on the end consumer for the rest.

Seems as if the Norinco sks doesn’t come with those American parts.

This video should explain it. I’ve been really busy with work and burnt out to the point where I feel like I don’t want to do anything but still be paid for it; sometimes even slurring when I speak possibly due to lack of adequate sleep. I did second guess myself and remembered that I think I remember the chi-com Sks’s not coming with any American parts; so I apologize for the confusion.

However, I don’t think it’s bad that 922r compliance was mentioned but think we should still keep this thread aimed towards helping OP get set up for a modern sks that they desire; while staying Cali Compliant. I remember seeing one on the used rack during the pandemic for about $600 with that same pro mag archangel stock.

This is good information, thank you for replying with useful information.

People smoke weed/ vape THC/ eat gummies everyday here in CA in violation of federal law. They also break the speed limit and roll stop signs. So what

You know, it's nice to see that a thread where people don't necessarily agree with each other has gone this long with civility. If this was calguns half of you would have already been called f@gs and those of you who were called f@gs would call the other half f'ing libtards. Then kestryll would try and give everybody a one-week suspension except for the fact that no matter how many times he tries and for how long, he is still unable to log in due to some software migration

True, Instagram has been pretty free recently too. I've gotten into a few 💩 slinging matches with people who think tagging is cool that resulted in a few death threats thrown my way :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I’ve lost count of the death threats, stalkers, hate brigades lol. People hate hearing the truth

If i keep my internal magazine on my SKS, but put it into a polymer archangel stock, is it considered an assault weapon. I am curious since it is an internal magazine, and not a detachable magazine.
Is the sks; all matching serial numbers and in good condition? If it’s all matching serial numbers and in good condition; most folks just leave it alone because it holds the re-sale value better.

The archarngel stock is more for something like if the stock is really beat up and you want something else to replace it.

Matching parts cineese, but it wasn't taken care of before me, its pitted from rusting and the stock looks like its been through a fire

Hmmmm, I would keep that metal well oiled to prevent it in the future.

How about refinishing the stock?
