Legal SKS with arch angel stock Legality

Is it?
Hmmmm, I would keep that metal well oiled to prevent it in the future.

How about refinishing the stock?
Yea I'll soak it in CLP every few months, wipe it down and reapply. I've debated redoing the stock, but it works fine as a stock. The gun functions well, it just seems like it was stored in a salt water bath for a while haha

922(r) is mainly enforced against importers.

Did you assemble a semiautomatic rifle from imported parts into a configuration that ATF would not have allowed to be imported under the sporting-purposes test?

And yes: 922(r) is very rarely enforced against ordinary individual owners for a one-off SKS furniture swap. It is real law, but practically it is usually a builder/importer/commercial-compliance issue unless someone is already in federal trouble and they pile on charges.

It is not automatically illegal under 922(r) to put an SKS in an Archangel stock. It becomes a 922(r) problem only if the resulting assembled rifle is considered non-sporting and still contains more than 10 imported counted parts.
It's somewhat more critical on a modified rifle if a sale is involved, can be considered manufacturing.
I went full retard on this bull pup, it's a legit Kali compliant SKS I built and just to be Federally cautious I used enough USA bits to meet 922r, mainly to use up the parts because I had them in my stash. Murray USA built and branded trigger group, firing pin and the furniture adds parts to the list. I cut the barrel to 18.5", it was a bust on OAL, so I added a Ramline brake (pinned & silver soldered) to get 1/4" to the good. Also used an Alby charge handle and mag to give it a little AK flair. I finally found a use for the funky vented gas tube hiding in there. I need a laser when I get around to it. PAX

Plastic stocks are trash any way you slice it bro. The SKS is best when left alone. There is an exceptionally beautiful Russian one on here for sale.
A matter of taste.
The 2 most sought after (rare/scarce/expensive) commercials SKS rifles are KSI Parka Para and KSI Stealth Para. Both have some of the best aftermarket poly furniture. These 2 clones I assembled aren't parked and I'm not spending the ducats to do it. They're actually cleaner than OG rifles with the completely neutered FSB (Front Site Base, no rod guides or bayo lugs). PAX
Parka Para clone-KSI branded Butler Creek stock (wrong HG)

Stealth Para clone-Ramline stock (not KSI branded), lightest SKS Para I've got. I like how the forearm blends with the mag contour, subtle.

Here's another 18.5" rifle I built using a slightly different Butler Creek. The wrist button is boss and the hand guard (Choate) is ventless. It's actually raised slightly giving the entire length venting. Left enough muzzle under cut to use the front sight globe only, Mojo rear, flush 5 round mag. I call it the Canadian Deer Stalker. This rifle actually has the fastest target acquisition of any rifle I've got. The sight picture between the Mojo and the front globe, is the perfect distance to achieve a circle in a circle when you snap it to your shoulder, very quick. PAX

Although wood is cool. Here's another very scarce KSI Hunter in wood, rare without the "nowhere rail" and stock notched for it. Optioned as seen from importer, CAPCO recoil pad, NSTAR brake, blade bayo slot filled with an insert, I added the Romy sling.

That's so terrible, but I love it, thank you for sharing this thing

Thanks SM for both posts. The Shernic is fugly and I'm still trying to warm up to it.
It only got built because I ran across a kid in SC that was offering the Shernic in trade for Yugo 59/66 furniture. It was the last of my SKS parts builds. I had already cut and crowned a SARCO $89-dollar barreled action, then I used the rest of my SKS and 922r parts (in case I sold it) to put it together. Surprisingly the trigger is really nice. I was concerned about the trigger going in. PAX

I was hoping to get one of those triggers, but it seems to be not a thing anymore, or at least right now

I was talking about the Shernic bull pup trigger system. The "control" rod is adjustable for slack and there's a return spring/reset gizmo that contributes/effects the "feel" of the whole shebang. BUT mine felt/pulled great, 4#? right after initially eyeballing it. It's buried in the chassis and I was skeptical about having to tear into it multiple times to adjust stuff. Has a shaved bolt so it can use duckbills in a free state (I wouldn't).
The Shernic safety is solid/firm on the trigger, but it's still SKS when set, and activates the same crappy way.
Murrays TG stuff is always spot on, rebuilt with new parts/springs, sear adjusted. I've used 3 of his builds and 1 Kivaari slick up. Both fellas are Texacans (y) Ben (Murray) is trying to close shop and had taken on a Padawan learner. I have a Russian TG group he redid, his 2 piece firing pin and a new unfitted TAPCO bolt in the wait. PAX

The "beautiful" Russian you mentioned is a deep BBQ refurb with mismatched stock and mag. Hardly collector grade, shooter mostly, PAX

No, I was referring to mine. The mag matches. To each their own.
I'm not seeing anything listed by Atomic Soldier, PAX
I found your Russian, the stock is gorgeous, do all the numbers match, no forced or over stamp?

To each their own.
Does that mean to disregard the NRA milsurp grading system?

Never mind, I see it's a mismatched (forced) BBQ black bolt refurb too, as per your description in your first posting of it. PAX
