I goit my renewed card today! Almost 6 weeks after receiving the approved email. They did update the renewal date.

Update: Just got an automated call and email telling me that my application has been approved. Email says:

Congratulations! Your application to renew your Concealed-Carry Weapon license has been approved.

Please allow one to two weeks for your card to arrive by mail. If you have not received your card in three weeks, please contact us at CCWinfo@sbcsd.org or (909)473-3893.

Just to close the loop on this. I received my new CCW in the mail today! My old one expires tomorrow, so perfect timing.

The lesson learned here is to start the application process, do your renewal class, and upload your certificate and gun card as soon as possible.

I started in June and my card expired on September 15. I just got my renewal on Halloween, so start early! You can apply 6 months before the expiration.

Off hand question here guys. I have a friend who is looking to get his CCW and lives in Apple Valley. The slight differences in pricing and wording from RivCo CCW has me a little confused.

Are your CCWs good for 1 or 2 years?
What has been your total price out the door from start to finish? I see there is a $112 Range Fee, but I am unsure of what that entails, whether it means class or quals. If done with a 3rd party vendor, do you still have to pay that fee?

Any advice would be appreciated. My friend is not computer savvy and I am just trying to help!

San Bernardino CCW is 2yrs.

The initial cost should be $158 plus $126.40. I'm not sure what that Range Fee is for, but you have to take the CCW course from an approved third-party vendor. And those costs vary depending on who you go with.

The standard CCW is good for 2 years from any county in the state. Like vplaza96 indicates, the SB County fees are:
$158 to apply
$126.40 upon approval
$ some amount for the training class and range time to qualify with your pistols, this amount is $112 if you take the class from the Sheriff. Price from the approved outside vendors List of vendors 11/15/2024 varies.

Got my class/range card submitted in 1/5/25 and the app is still pending a processor. Not in a rush since my card expires in May but was just curious as to what the time frame is currently.

My brother renewed his recently. Submitted his class/range card on Oct 26 and got his CCW in the mail on Jan 17. So looks like around 3 months or so.

They seem to be doing renewals in batches, have been playing catchup, or prioritize those that are expiring soonest. Maybe a combination of all 3. I submitted the last of my paperwork with range day last week of December way to close to my expiration. I had a call within 2 weeks that there was an issue with a new firearm I added during the renewal. Got that resolved which took almost 2 more weeks. I called following the resolution only to find my processor had already seen the update and approved it. These guys are seriously on it, I was very impressed. Less than 5 weeks from submission to receiving renewal card in hand and that included 2 weeks of adding time resolving an issue that wasn't their fault. I had a buddy that submitted renewal almost a month before myself and he got his card on the exact same day I did and he didn't have that delay in processing. Overall, very happy with my renewal process.

Oh yeah I have no doubt they are processing them as fast as possible. I think you are right about them doing them in batches.

Get your renewals in as soon as possible as even 4 months isn't enough to beat the backlog...

Anyone running a pistol where you changed the configuration (I am talking about a p365, adding a XL slide to it) and using it on your CCW? The reason I ask is about 12 years ago or so I sold the .357sig barrel on my SigPro and installed a .40 barrel, and the sheriff's department made me remove it from my CCW because it was no longer in the factory configuration.

My renewal took 51 days (calendar days) from submission to renewal approval. That included 12 days from range submission to printing/mailing.

I just called and they said I cannot change barrel and slide length.
