CCW San Bernardino County CCW

I applied for one in Manhattan Beach which is in LA county, funny enough, I had to do a Psych evaluation and the only approved vendor to do my psych evaluation was in San Bernardino which is 75 miles one way for me.. I was not happy....

I did have to wait 3 months after everything was completed for them to just essentially print out my CCW, so 9 or 10 months waiting seems like a really long time.... Stay at it brother, they try and bog us down with red tape and long waits.
How is this relevant to SB County? It isn't.

San Bernardino had a rule where they didn't want you to modify any gun you had on your CCW. Does anyone know if they are ok with milling the slide for a red dot? I plan to email them tomorrow, but figured someone on here might know.

During the safety class, we were told that mods are ok as long as they don't change the safety features of the gun. I qualified with an RDS on one of my guns a few months ago.

My license expired yesterday. I had received the email that my renewal had been issued over 3 weeks ago...so as it said, I emailed them to see if it had been mailed since more than 3 weeks had elapsed. No response yet.

My CCW expires on 11/1/2024, so wanted to get started early. Started the Permitium application on 8/5 and submitted all docs I had.

Took the renewal course on 8/10 and uploaded the training certificate and range card that day.

As of today, Permitium says 'Assigned to Processor/Processing Order'. So far, so good....

Yes you can mill and add a red dot.

Probably, which sucks because these all happened in my adolescent days. Now that I am a father, I stick to speed limit and stay out of trouble. I’m all about safety first. These incidents happened a long time ago and I’m no longer the same trouble maker. I’m trying to lead by example and being a good role model, or at least I’m trying to be. I just want to be able to protect my family and make it home to my family the lawful way, that is all. But I will never know why they denied me and won’t be able to carry because of my past. Thanks for the post.
For the most part, amigo, you're preaching to the choir. The fact that highly overpaid, public bureaucrats are even allowed to regulate the use of our legally purchased firearms is a travesty and blatant violation of the Second Amendment.

If you ever leave Commiefornia, be sure you write your local representatives and explain to them that you're taking your income (and their tax money) elsewhere for the reasons explained above.

Brittany from the Sheriff's office responded that my renewal has been approved but they are short staffed...so it is wait for it to arrive.

hey there ... i applied 3/1/24, interviewed & Livescanned 48 days later on 4/18, everything was sent up to the CA DOJ in SAC and just got the email on 9/6 that i passed backgrounds. signed up for class with Aegis Authority on 10/6 🙏🙏🙏

I got the approved email on August 23.
Current license expired on 9/15. I am still waiting to get my renewed liense.....response is simply that they are working on them, being shorthanded. I guess I need to go get a Firearm Safety Card to start a DROS.

This last year the CCW unit has really been dropping the ball. Telling people cards were mailed that weren't actually, then telling them there was a 'delay' in mailing them. The new system was suppose to speed things up not slow it down like it has.

Oof, I hope you get yours soon. Will definitely post an update if I get it in the next week or so.

I applied for on 03/27/2023, scheduled for an interview 08/04/2023. There was a discrepancy which pushed it back to November.

I just got denied for not showing good moral character. I wrote all my past criminal and traffic infractions and was completely honest with them. No felonies, lots of speeding tickets and misdemeanors as teenager to my mid twenties which were all listed. I’m at a complete loss here and don’t know what else I can do to prove to them I am a good moral character. I don’t understand when I can get a gun from the DOJ background check but I can’t use it for self-defense the lawful way in the state California. I can get a ccw from AZ but not in my home state. I’m confused as I crossed all my Ts and dotted all my I s yet I was denied for not showing good moral character. It’s upsetting to hear someone that doesn’t know you, says you’re not a good moral character when you live an honest life and are a law abiding citizen. It states I can appeal but from what I know is that they don’t even care or ever heard of anyone getting their appeal overturned. Im just curious to has anyone got there appeal decision overturned?I

I also had old misdemeanors and was approved in la and then again in sb when I moved. I asked sheriffs about it and they’re mostly clueless but I kept digging cause I was sure they were going to deny mine for the same reason they denied you and I think they were until I brought up in my interview I had my Utah Florida and one more states Ccw and the lady was like oh you have a Ccw in other states. Like she said that shocked and kinda annoyed that she now can’t deny me here cause I had grounds to sue if they denied me cause I was found capable by multiple states to be “fit” enough but not California. That would open them up for a lawsuit. They even emailed me a day after the interview asking for proof of my current out of state Ccw’s. I hope this helps people in the future. Get your out of states first. It’s harder to deny you, this is just my opinion, not a fact.

CA requirements and other States requirements are not 100% the same.
Just because other States approved you does not mean you meet the requirements in CA.
Think what you want but you are wrong.
