Is anyone still pending final review? Mine’s been sitting at this step for about a week or so now. So I’m trying to gauge what their current processing time is like. But so far from application to interview it was only about two months with my interview being moved up twice, originally being in mid spring of this year

If it is a gun already on your license however you are just adding a red dot / light or laser. You just need to email the the dept a photo of the new training cert w/ that listed and youll be good to go since they just make a note on there end. If you are adding a new firearm to your license then it is typically a 3-4 month (maybe longer as they prioritize initial and renewal ccw since you already have a gun) wait until you are asked to submit payment for your new license w/ that gun on it.

If it is already on your license and you emailed the dept already the cert. just send a friendly email asking if they got your training cert w/ the modification to the existing firearm on your license if in doubt..

Submitted mine mid January and no movement. I called OCSD yesterday and they told me current wait time right now is 60-90 days.

Well for renewing, you will not get the approval to make payment about a one to two before you expire if you started around the 120 day mark (before expiration). Think about it, why would they send a new license in advance of your current license as your paid for the 2 yrs length.

Yeah but if I submit now I have to list all firearms.... not sure if its easy to update during the 120 days since I know at some point the verify all the firearms are registered to me.

Well, really shouldnt change much of that window...in theory do your training asap and get those gun on your cert and upload that.. then once you get your new guns get a add a gun cert w/ those listed on it and upload it,, hopefully your provider doesnt charge extra to do "add a gun" after the class qual (place where I go just charges the range fee plus ammo (cause they are a lead free facility) If your renewal is locked you can always email the dept your add a gun cert and say you want to also add these as in Orange County you can have 30 on your license.

Reading this thread I'm surprised how long OC takes considering how fast Riverside and Sacramento is. Is it really 4-6 months?

When it comes to background checks so they really do that? They need to call my friends (who I would rather they not know I am armed because it's a political trigger topic and I definitely keep this private from coworkers).

When it comes to CCW I think the best policy is to tell no one besides your immediate family. My neighbors / HOA / coworkers etc don't need to know jack .

Here's my timeline as a new applicant/initial license.

• 12/18/25: Application submitted via online portal
• 03/03/26: Email notification of upcoming interview scheduled on 3/12. Also notified of issue with proof of residency, and still need to complete live scan and training certification
• 03/04/26: Live scan initiated
• 03/06/26: CA, FBI Live scan completed
• 03/12/26: 1) OCSD with interview, and 2) OCSD called 1/3 references
• 03/17/26: Firearms Live scan completed
• 03/22/26: Firearms training completed, certificate uploaded to OCSD CCW portal
• 03/25/26: Received email notification of email approval, and paid online
• 03/25/26: Payment verified, notification of CCW shipped

OC is typially 3-4 month if you submit the complete app w/ everything that is needed (saying your dont have any type of background where the interviewer would need to tell you to get our training or not get it) ie clean record adult/juvie

My amendment took 91 days. Submitted on Jan 14th.

Not really the same. A driver’s license proves general competence across cars but a CCW qualification is about safely handling that specific "tool".

It is closer to pilots needing certification for different aircraft because the last thing anyone wants is someone fumbling controls under pressure and putting others at risk.

I am ok w qualification, psych tests and safety measures.. the costs just need to be reasonable and consistent from region to region IMHO.

Really? How different the "tools" are? Is it really a rocket science to shoot Sig vs Glock?

Not even close. Different jets have really different dynamics.

I am not ok with anything that infringes my Constitutional right, either 1st, 2nd, or 27th.
