"Safe to assume this is an in person meeting now? Are they just ditching the phone interview altogether?"

Yes, they are all in person now afaik. Even when I applied online in 3/24 it said I was scheduling a phone interview, which was changed thin person.

As long as the permit has not been granted, Sheriffs permit you to modify your application to add Firearms, but you must also show proof of qualifying with that gun.

If the permit is granted during the two-year period of time, they don’t allow you to modify in order to add or subtract any new gun.

They will only make an exception and allow a modification to add to your permit, but onlyif you lose all the guns on the permit, either by some natural disaster, like a fire, have them stolen or they become inoperable.

Otherwise, you have to wait until the two year renewal is up in order to modify the permit by adding and subtracting the new Firearms

Finally got the email to PTT!! Initial application was done through Permitium on 7/12/23, I had my telephone interview 7/9/2024 and just got the email. I took my training the same month I had my interview because at that time they were only 90 days behind. Your training certificate is good for one year so I submitted the certs today. In a separate email they asked for an updated phone number so I called and actually spoke to the deputy that sent me the PTT email to advise him that my phone number is correct and current but my phone marks most calls as spam and I have no control. I asked that any correspondence be sent via email and if he could make a note on my file, we'll see. Lets see how long the pick up call/email takes.
My application timeline aligns to a couple weeks behinds yours. I’m waiting for my pick-up appointment call. Have you received your call/email yet?

My timeline for reference:
9/9/2023 - Online application submitted
7/31/2024 - Phone interview (after LASD pushed out the date twice)
5/2/2025 - PTT email
5/15/2025 - Training documents submitted online

Thank you for letting us know and congrats..... But jeez..... two years, basically, I have a long wait ahead of me.

No, still waiting for the call/email. I'm checking my Permitium status almost daily. I'll post as soon as I have a date and if it was by call or email. Good luck.

From what I’ve read, LASD had to get through a backlog of paper applications, which I think had to do with my interview being pushed out twice. I must’ve applied shortly after the application process went online. Now that they’ve worked through that backlog, hopefully yours goes faster.

Appreciate it. Thanks and good luck to you as well.

Kostas Moros is an attorney working with CRPA to get wait times down along with many other cases CRPA is handling. Back in Feb of 2025 he posted they are looking for new plaintiffs who still have a long road ahead. Maybe you fit what they are looking for. Below is what he posted.

Hello again everyone.

Because of how long litigation takes and due to the preliminary injunction we won for our individual plaintiffs, some of our plaintiffs have finally gotten their CCW permits. We thus may want to add in some "fresh" plaintiffs in anticipation of any arguments about standing. If you have applied for a permit with LASD in the last six months and want to volunteer to be a plaintiff in CRPA v. LASD, please email me at kmoros@michellawyers.com.

We'd prefer people who have just applied if possible, but failing that up to six months or thereabouts is fine. We don't want people who have already waited over a year, as they will get their permit in the next 6-12 months before we have a final judgment. Also, please be confident you have a clean record and are going to get a permit once you make it through the ridiculous wait times.

Just email me a few sentences about yourself, plus your timeline. (When you applied, whether any steps are complete and when they were completed, etc.) We appreciate the help!

- Kostas

LA County CCW Renewal Timline

This is my second renewal, the first time was still via paper apps back in 2021. This renewal was submitted via permitium. I highly suggest applicants submit their renewal application right at the 90 days prior to expiration.

03/01/2025 renewal app submitted

04/06/2025 approved to take training

04/06/2025 training completion documents submitted

05/15/2025 CCW approved and pick up scheduled

06/03/2025 CCW renewal picked up

I took my training before I submitted my application on 02/08/2024. As soon as I got the proceed to training notification I uploaded my documents.

My license lapsed by 3 days.

Well... I got the email this morning letting me know my application has been processed and approved. They ask for the final payment of $173.00 payable on the Permitium site on my account. I was asked when I would like to pick up my license and I chose the first available date 6/12/25. So, after 2 years exactly, 6/12/23-6/12/25 I finally will receive my CCW. I did not receive any phone call and if I did Google marked it as SPAM but I did receive the email. Good luck to you all and I better cut this short so I can start my renewal process LOL.

So they talked to two of my three references today... They called the third, but he hasn't been able to get through to them on the call back number yet. Going to try tomorrow.

Should I take this as a sign my live scan was "approved". Can't imagine they would waste time calling references if there were any snags in my background check.

Anyone know about how long it was from when their references contacted to getting their PTT notification?

Thanks!
Hey, I had my interview 6/6/2025 and they called only 2/3 of my references on 6/9/2025.
Did you ever figure out if you were good to go with only 2 or did they eventually call them?

Today I received my email for pickup like @Sanfaz did and I paid and scheduled my pickup date all through permitium.. I’ll be picking up my ccw on 6-18

Congratulations Lucky we did it! They'll give you an opportunity to take pictures of the documents you initial and sign. I suggest you do so for your protection.

They got hold of my third refference the Monday or Tuesday after they talked to my other two refferences... So they are all in the bag. Not sure when, but my status has changed to "supervisor review" (between payment received and status pending... long orange bar). It was stuck at "assigning to a processor", or something like that, for at least a couple weeks after my interview.

Hoping I get the ok to proceed to training soon.
