CCW Los Angeles CCW (LASD ONLY)

They got hold of my third refference the Monday or Tuesday after they talked to my other two refferences... So they are all in the bag. Not sure when, but my status has changed to "supervisor review" (between payment received and status pending... long orange bar). It was stuck at "assigning to a processor", or something like that, for at least a couple weeks after my interview.

Hoping I get the ok to proceed to training soon.
Damn, they still never called me 3rd reference.. I even double checked their missed calls and voicemails and did not see the same number the other 2 got a call from. I got to call them to see where I stand.
It still says "Assigned to Processor / Processing Order" for me.

Yeah update us when you get the proceed to training, and I'll know I won't be too far behind lol

Wanted to check my application status but couldn't remember my order number. While searching I found an unread email from Permitium. The email stated more dates for interviews had become available. I went to the link thinking I might get in earlier. The earliest date would ad seven months to my original interview date of Sept. 30th. It still shows I have my appointment in Sept. What is the likelihood that my appointment has been cancelled?

It shouldn't be cancelled... only if you actuallychange the date yourself. Not accepting a potential earlier date (which you inadvertently missed) wouldn't cancel your original interview (I would hope not at least).

If you were originally scheduled for a phone interview, I would call or write to them to confirm your interview date, and see if you need to go the the Sherman Block Building instead, and if so what time.

I would go ahead and get your training done if you are in “Supervisor Review”.

Man, that sucks... Maybe you could try calling the help line or write to them (the info is at the bottom of the permitium page) just to make sure you are ok with the two they contacted, explain there was no call back info or whatever the situation was for the third one and see if they can try again (if they need to).

The two times I called, more near the beginning of my process, they were friendly and helpful.

I will of course keep updating my progress. Hope it all works out for you!

Thanks... does that mean it's pretty much a sure thing at this point and I'm just in line? The only hesitation I have is that they are so damn specific about not doing the training until you get the go ahead to proceed.

"Applicants should not complete firearms training UNTIL instructed to do so by the CCW unit" (their all caps on until, not mine 😅). I don't want to end up having to take the course twice.

I took my training not long after my telephone interview on 7/24 and as the training is good for one year I submitted my docs the day I received the Proceed to training email and never had a question regarding them. I didn't want any delays whatsoever. Another observation I noticed when I picked up my license on the 12th was the number of names that were called for interviews and were absent. Can't understand going through all this and not showing up for the interview.

Ok that makes sense... the main reason they probably say to wait is because the process can/does take more than a year. When I was waiting for my interview there were only a couple no shows (was selfishly hoping for more as I was two hours early).

I understand the hesitation. At this point in your journey you should have your “proceed to training “ well within a year (the timeframe your training remains valid). Having it ready to submit will hopefully speed things up for ya. All the best and stay safe!

Just got email that my interview date was moved to next month. Date is super inconvenient for me as I have something going on that week. Seems like if I want to reschedule, it'll push me back to next year like I just freshly applied, terrible system.

I'm most likely going to have to purchase a 1 day flight, fly in same day and flight out again after this interview.

Here's the email they sent me, I didn't include any parts that would have had my information/order number.

Please do not respond to this email as this address is not checked.

I spoke to a deputy with the CCW section. My appointment had not changed, however, I got a notification today that my appointment had been moved up to early July!

Damn, sorry to hear you have to jump through hoops to make it work. Some of the actions seem to be a bit random.

I didn't get an email at first, I got a call first offering to move mine up. I missed it but they left a message and called back later the same day and offered me a new time over the phone, which I accepted. If I had ignored it, or said no, my original date in July would have still been valid afaik. Once I accepted the new date, I got an email similar to yours.

Yeah absolute bummer, I would be OK with my original date as I planned everything around it. They did not give me the choice to accept this new date or not. Permitum already shows the newly moved up date.

Seems really 💩ty under the guise of "we're working hard to process CCWs, pleased to offer you a earlier date" but if the earlier date doesn't work out, get to the back of the line.

Looking at your timeline is giving me some hope though, I applied a few months after you. Hope we can get ours soon.

Yeah, fingers crossed. I feel like I kind of stalled out again though. It's been over a month since my last contact was interviewed, and over six weeks since they had all the results from my live scan.

I haven't been notified of any discrepancies (I informed them of a couple minor moving violations that went to warrant in the early 90's (and that I of course cleared up, also back then)... those were also noted on my original application, not something I sprung on them in the interview.

I hope I hear something in the next couple weeks or so. I don't fully understand their process.

The next step for my CCW would be an appointment for picking up my CCW license. I haven’t gotten an email yet to schedule the pick up.

Is it normal for the application status bar to say “Pending Appointment Completion” when I don't have an appointment? The status has been like this for over a week.

~3 months since interview to PTT?

Have you decided on where to go for your training yet?
Beginning to look like that’s where I’ll end up, best case. I interviewed over two months ago.

I found a local instructor, and they have been very helpful. I’m signed up for July 26/27, but they will keep bumping me till I get my notification (if I want).

I don’t think I’m going to risk taking the class before I get the ok to proceed… because despite a couple users saying it’s good for a year, they said that LASD would only honor class completions up to 90 days before the proceed to training letter.

On most previous approval letters, they stated specifically "Training completed prior to the date of this letter will not be accepted" but I noticed that a letter last month now says training completed up to 90 days before the letter would be accepted. If you are confident LASD will complete it within 3 months, I would go ahead and do the training.”

That’s just too narrow a window for me to risk the time and cost of the class for nothing if mine happens to drag out for some reason.

Sorry I been very busy with school. Im open to suggestions but leaning towards stop the bleed
I will be going to Jarvis Firearms Training, largely because they are the closest to where I live and under a 30 minute drive (plus they are well reviewed, and they have been very helpful with quick replies to questions).

The other two places I was considering before I found Jarvis are a 1-2 hours drive each way.... I'm about to do a round trip ride to southern Oregon so will have had my fill of driving/riding when that is done.

On another note... in your PTT email, was there any wording to indicate they would NOT accept your PTT completion if you had taken the class prior to receiving the email to proceed?

Thanks!
