Well, that Democrat interest hasn't bolstered Tesla alternatives like Rivian or Lucid. Companies like Honda, Hyundai, and Nissan had to discontinue some EVs in their line-up due to slow sales. GM still makes the Bolt, but that hasn't cracked the top 10 models in the U.S. Makes me question how much influence the Democrats have on EV sales.

The Japanese have also been slow to adopt EVs with any reasonable strategy, unlike Hyundai which is doing a great job. I don't love Hyundai's design (or their budget brand, Kia) but they're aggressively embracing EVs. I write this as a long-time Honda fan, but Honda is doing too little too late. At least they have the Prologue EV SUV out now, which looks pretty good. Honda made the mistake of not bringing the cute Honda e to the States, with its retro Z600 (and Golf) design cues.

Nissan deserves props for being early to the EV race with the LEAF, despite looking like a frog-mobile in its earlier forms.

So basically, the network of charging stations funded by the U.S. Government shouldn't be a boondoggle like the California High Speed Rail project and that performance management and oversight can prevent Californication of the network's construction.

I've had a string of Hondas; 1978 CVCC, 1990 Civic Si, 2000 CR-V, 2002 Civic Si, and a 2005 Civic Si. The 2002 and 2005 Civic Si cars were amazing to drive.

Yeah, the Prologue was a joint effort between Honda for the exterior and GM for the frame and that partnership has ended. That and changing consumer demand and tariffs on products from Mexico made it untenable to produce. Honda will continue to pursue hybrid vehicles, and probably experiment with fully in-house EVs.

I'm not a fan of hydrogen because that gas is notoriously hard to contain in its elemental H2 form, and hydrogen bearing compounds like ammonia and hydrazine are not much better logistically.

That's a straight-up lie. There have been some government subsidies, largely related to opening up the Supercharger Network so other EV manufacturers could get a foothold and address range-anxiety, which is far higher with non-Teslas.

Also, did you already forget the GM bailout? GM didn't just kill the electric car (the EV1), they caved-in to CARB and got bailed-out. There's even a documentary about this called, "Who Killed the Electric Car?". That's about GM and the EV1, produced from 1996 to 1999. Tesla formed in 2003.

Teslas first profitable year was 2020 and only profitable because they sold regulatory credits i.e. government subsidy.

Apparently there was an invite by Epstein for Elon, and Elon asked about when the wildest parties were, but there's no evidence he actually went. He probably thought better of it once he knew more.

Those EV credits were a penalty against companies not making EVs which benefited Tesla. Not sure if that's still in play, and Tesla almost went under in 2018. They were very close to bankruptcy. Either way, Elon built this without much help and a LOT of FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) spread by opponents of EVs. Big oil for one was not much help. There are lots of government subsidies. Do you have a degree? Did you get a student loan?

Huge mistake on their part. Toyota is coming around...slowly. At least the Prius has a plug-in option, and there's the BZ, BZ Woodland, and C-HR Crossover. They're learning!

My read is: he was too stupid to graduate with a meaningful B.S., which is a prerequisite for a GL-10+ position at any 1811. Guy was upset about crime, wanted a badge to shoot the "bad people" and get paid for it. Thought himself too good to just be a beat cop. Insecurity is the delta between ego and aptitude. That gap being too wide for him to handle, he went postal, took it out on symbols of "liberal elitism," people who could afford Tesla's eating at an In N Out.
