In case you missed the news, a shooter at In-N-Out blasted customers in Idaho last week. A couple fatalities and the shooter was shot by a civilian, I don't know if he had a CCW or not or if Idaho requires one..
(If someone has a better story- post it on up). Video here;

It restarts the conversation that we all need to have with ourselves and family. Would you, as a California CCW holder, intervene as this fellow did? We all have our "rules" about what we do & don't when carrying, not the least of which is "when" we would intervene running the range of Never to My own family/loved ones with steps in between. Sprinkle a dose of "every bullet you fire has a $50,000 attorney fee attached and its quickly conflicted. Chatting with friends, maybe we ought just run the guy over with our trucks 2 or 3 times, ya know- just to make sure- and avoid the Kalifonia scrutiny that certanly would follow a shooting.

An armed society is a polite society. The armed citizen protected the people.

When a Black man stands up to protect others, he is a hero. Yet, he is still subjected to racial slurs like the n-word. In situations like this shooting, where a Black man acts heroically, he is more likely to face arrest—not because he did anything wrong, but because of his race and laws that target vigilante actions.

Why is it, in poorer countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan have a high number of gun per capita yet does not have mass shooting.

Even in countries with strict gun laws, they do not have mass shooting like Switzerland.

Just a few weeks ago, we saw a man with a gun saved a room full of people from a man with a knife. Let's us watch and see what happens next with both cases.

There are so many horror stories on why you don't get involved unless you are defending yourself or your loved ones only.

That said its going to be real hard to not try to shoot the guy walking thru a parking lot and maybe randomly shooting people.

You better be well trained to do so and not some couch CCW holder if you do. The risk is VERY high you get hurt or killed yourself in the chaos, or hurt someone else. Some textbook 16 hour course isn't enough to act clearly under that kind of pressure. I wouldn't fault anyone that chose not too.

"Suspect in shooting at Idaho fast-food restaurant died from self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say"
I feel like this is very common for these types of losers.... They are Rambo until they start getting shot at and then off themselves....

Good job to that guy if Jordan is the same person.

Saw a top comment on Reddit saying competition shooting would give you “stress inoculation” to be ready for an active shooter. If you think the stress of a timer (with nothing on the line) and targets that don’t shoot back is the same as a life or death situation you’ve never been in combat or any extremely stressful situation like that.

Competition shooting provides limited stress inoculation and excellent weapon-handling practice. It is valuable, but it should not be mistaken for preparation for an actual gunfight.

It was a good chuckle.

Apparently the shooter is a Muslim, big if true. Wouldn’t be surprising for obvious reasons.

Local PD is treating him as a hero.

Crazily enough a friend of mine from motorcycle racing lives a few blocks from that in n out.

Some men are built different and rise to the occasion. Most will cower in fear. Even on this sub multiple said they would cower rather than face the attacker in front of them.

That one guy even said he would abandon his family and leave the restaurant rather than defend his family from the knife attacker despite him supposedly having a CCW. I’m not sure why guys like that even carry tbh.

If you carry you need to make a quick decision when the time comes to do the right thing. If you have not thought about it by now then you are not ready to carry.

There are so many factors to consider before making a decision.
Like me alone vs me with my wife. My wife has a lot of medical issues so with her I need to get her safe and away from the area first.
What is happening and who is bad. Just cause someone is shooting at someone else doesn't mean they are the bad guy.
How much did I witness to know if this is real or staged.
To shoot someone I don't know who is shooting at people I don't know is a big ask.

For some people in that in n out it might be 99% clear..... for others it could be really unclear.

Multiple stories of off duty officers shooting undercover officers/agents who found themselves in a gunfight with criminals.

I had no idea there were In-N-Outs in Idaho

Unless I was absolutely sure someone is perpetrating the shooting and they're not some off duty cop / CCW holder trying to stop the violence, I can't see myself drawing on someone. And even then, honestly speaking, I don't know how I'm going to react in a sudden life or death moment. The best I can do is just keep practicing in case it ever becomes necessary.

What's "the right thing"?

Not everyone that carries should engage in this form. Some people have inflated egos and no self awareness to their capabilities let alone surroundings or situational awareness, especially under these conditions. I would argue many would think this is my time! The right thing for some EVEN with CCW is to NOT engage.

It only opened a few weeks ago

In this case engaging was the RIGHT and JUST thing to do. The counter-shooter is a hero! Good on him. Guy has serious balls and skill. The locals and PD are glazing him, rightfully so.

Some rise to the occasion so that others can look at blurry cell phone footage and talk 💩 about those that rise to the occasion

The crabs in the bucket mentality never ceases to amaze. Everytime there's some CCW hero, there's at least one guy here and on reddit saying how they'll never do that and that the hero shooter is an idiot for XYZ reason.
