Curious, what makes you say that? The CCSD is now referring Brentwood residents to the city. This leaves them in limbo as the city has not yet developed their program. Typical.
I can tell you Brentwood is NOT CCW friendly.

When I originally started my CCW journey I started with the City... they gave me an application that looked like a copy of a copy of a copy... literally unreadable. The general attitude was "don't bother".Curious, what makes you say that?
Just did mine and had the same. He didn't look at anyone's firearmsJust did my qualifications, the range master didnt even look at my firearms. All he asked was for me to double check the serial numbers and load some magazines.
You mean mags with more than 10 rounds? It’s illegal to even own them in CA now.Anyone know if +10 mags are not allowed? I was under the impression they were okay when I got the permit and the website doesn't mention capacity, but apparently according to some guy on reddit who emailed the sheriff Magazines also count as a banned mod???
In addition to litigation, let's intensify a CoCo 2A advocacy campaign in Contra Costa with CoCo CRPA https://crpa.org/chapter/contracostacountychapter-home/ . Mobilize more Contra Costa pro-2A voters....
This is the same problem in Contra Costa County. The Board of supervisors are not rushing to increase funding for the sheriffs to quickly process these applications. The anti gun forces in Contra Costa are doing their best to maintain the status quo, until they are forced to speed up the process due to litigation. There will not be a political title wave of voters demanding to oust/recall the current board of supervisors, unless they increase funding to speed up the application processing, because a vast majority of the voters are opposed to CCW permits and concealed carry altogether. This is what happens when the tides turn against us in the cultural wars, and the population locally and throughout the state becomes heavily anti gun. The local and state political process are closed to us as as local politics and the local courts refuse to assist us. Thus only the federal court system, coupled with the federal presidential administration, is our only hope for relief from these violations… and countless others that make it difficult to possess firearms throughout the state.
Help is on its way, yet it’s not on its way fast enough, for those whose applications are languishing for years, and the current system is also acting as a deterrent to dissuade folks from applying since it will take so long, and SB2 severely limits where your permitted firearm it can be carried
not if you bought them during freedom weekYou mean mags with more than 10 rounds? It’s illegal to even own them in CA now.

Dear ...,
what is the position of the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office on standard capacity mags (more than 10 rounds) with CCW carry? Legally possessed, of course.
I know that some counties, e.g. LA are fine - "Magazine capacity is not restricted. However, the use of any magazine with a capacity above 10 rounds is only permitted if the applicant is in legal possession of such magazine."
Thank you so much.

Good afternoon,
Our policy is strictly no modifications to the firearm; this includes no extended capacity or extended magazines.
Thank you!
----------------
.....,
thank you for the answer. May I ask a bit more to make sure we are on the same page?
Not extended, nothing fancy or oversized. Strictly factory standard for the gun, for example 17rnd for Glock 17 or 15rnd for Glock 19.
Nothing beyond the magwell, same shape and dimensions as 10rnd, just normal capacity, exactly like from Glock factory. The only difference is capacity, it is standard, like on Glock page.
Strictly like here -

Many thanks for your help
Sincerely,
5. My experience with PD, including SFPD is very positive, but looks like CCW is also a new thing for them, so they don't have the answers yet. We need to work with them to clarify all this and, you know, maybe influence them a bit.Dear CCW department officer,
Could you help us to find an answer to the question we are confused with?
What is the position of the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office on mags with capacity over 10 rounds with CCW carry, which are
- more than 10 rounds capacity
- legally obtained and possessed, of course.
- standard factory magazine dimensional size (not extended, not oversized, same dimensions as 10rds)
- no modification to a gun in any way, just standard dimensions of a magazine with capacity more than 10 rounds.
I know that some counties, e.g. LA are fine - "Magazine capacity is not restricted. However, the use of any magazine with a capacity above 10 rounds is only permitted if the applicant is in legal possession of such magazine." , but what is the position of our county?
Thank you so much for your help.
Sincerely,
Anyone recently try to apply in Pinole ?
Coco sheriff says apply through Pinole.
Pinole PD says doesn’t have a system in place yet, apply through Coco.
Applied through Coco, permit withdrawn and stated need to apply through Pinole .
You're going to want to be careful about spamming your IA. San Bernardino residents found that out the hard way when they kept spamming their IA's office about freedom week mags and standard capacity magazines being able to be carried and the Sheriff's office just decided it was easier to have their own policy of restricting it to 10 rounds instead. Sometimes some ambiguity may be better than the overly narrow clarification you get in response to a question - an answer you may not have wanted to know, because now it's out there on record.1. Detective from the Sheriff's gun range said "no". I tried to dig into, like is this official position and where can I find anything from Sheriff's department on this topic - got nothing. Just opinion
2. CCW department refused to give any answer and playing opossum.
Here is the full log
No response received after this
3. I know people who carry 10 and people who carry 15 or 17 freedom mags. But this is a gray area, typical FUD. Everyone should decide on their own, I'd prefer to be on the safe side.
4. Guys, we need to spam them with this question. Through e-mail and through paper mails. And involve CRPA or whoever can help. The more people - the better.
Write them to ccwpermits@so.cccounty.us and tell that
- it's a hypothetical question, you want to understand Sheriff's office position
- for the case of legally obtained and owned mags
- standard factory mags, not oversized and not extended
Here is the template I've just used (IANAL)

Also, I'd caution just people generally to make sure your freedom week mags are ... actually freedom week mags. In both senses of the word. That should be obvious, but I think some gun owners are too new to understand that.
Dang, Brentwood is so nice. Can't even afford to live where I went to HS since the houses went up 3-4x in value. My understanding is CC County will renew CC County permits.
Aside... I'm putting my house in Brentwood up for sale, I limited my new residence search to CCC for that reason.
I bought my house in 1999 for $370... listing for $850. I couldn't buy my own house.Dang, Brentwood is so nice. Can't even afford to live where I went to HS since the houses went up 3-4x in value.
