WTF Glendale

Awesome thanks for taking action. Even a lack of response is telling (latency due to them deferring to their own legal counsel)Didn't
Didn't get response to my email, but they finally picked up the phone. On 15th try in 3 days.
So, the guy said it wasn't Glendale PD doing, but rather state. Could it be default setting on permitium, no idea? And the firearm must be on "...DRUM ROLL..." CA DOJ approved CCW ROSTER.

I told him that I don't think such roster exist. He said whatever, they don't have control over what it says on pemitium and they aren't the ones who approve or reject submitted guns. He also said to go ahead, list whatever gun I legally own on the renewal application, and if they get rejected by the state they will let me know.

What a turtle soup of BS and lack of knowledge

It isn't Permitium or the State. Permitium reflects what the IA puts out. Simple GIGO problem.

Example:
Glendale PD CCW Permitium Page
Firearms must be on the DOJ Approved Firearms List: Click Here to Confirm

  • Permitees are only allowed 3 weapons on the CCW license, and they must be listed accurately on the application.

SAC Sheriff CCW Permitium page:
Firearms

A total of three (3) firearms can be listed on your permit. Be sure each firearm you list on your Concealed Weapon Permit is registered to you. The firearm(s) cannot be registered to any other family member. You may not add rifle caliber weapons (AR-Pistol, AK-Pistol, etc.) to your CCW permit.

I told him I don't think such a roster exist. (sic)

The Roster of Not Unsafe Handguns exists. It's linked on the Glendale page, so someone in Glendale gave that to Permitium.

Thanks for being persistent and it's no surprise they won't offer that info in writing. I think this is worth digging further and letting the broader 2A community be more aware of this.

The link is for handguns certified for sale, which has nothing to do with CCW permit.
Either guy has no idea what he was talking about, or just BSd to end conversation. I will apply with my off roster guns and see what happens.

Perhaps I was too quick to list them for sale

There is no DOJ approved CCW roster. The only DOJ Roster is the Handguns Approved for Sale ROSTER. That’s what they’ve linked to. And as I illustrated, it’s not Permitium’s or DOJ’s decision because Sac Sheriff (and others) don’t have it on their Permitium sites.

Glendale has confused “registered to owner” (an SB 2 gift) with “roster”. The bad info was provided by Glendale to Permitium and Glendale is now sourcing their erroneous Permitium entry to validate their program. It’s blatant ignorance.

But if you follow the advice you were given ("He also said to go ahead, list whatever gun I legally own on the renewal application"), it should all work out.... Bad info on the website, but perhaps no impact on approval.

Let us know what happens, please.

Amazing how little knowledge these people have on gun laws and firearms in general. Really scary considering they’re the ones tasked with enforcing said laws. What a joke that they are also trapped with deciding what’s reasonably out safe to carry wrt optics or other mods. Would hate to get pulled over or have any other interaction with Glendale PD while carrying, or while possessing a legally configured AR or any other scenario they could misinterpret…

Let us know how it goes and good luck. I got my off roster DWXc added to my permit in like 1.5 days with zero questions or hassle (Sac)

I’m in the process for another city and made sure 1 that I was adding was on roster just in case. Sorry you having to go through this, but thank you for warning the rest of us.

If your city PD doesn’t have that rule off roster guns should be ok. I’m hoping it just misunderstanding, because most definitely there is no such state law.
And currently I’m in violation of that rule, my EDC is P-01

Received automated email from permitium saying my application was advanced and go ahead to get my 8 hours training done.
There are bonus rules GPD has..
1. Livescan is required on renewal even tho state law doesn’t kick in until September, well past my permit expiration date
2. Renewal does require 3 people who are willing to serve as references.

Congrats!

Also, it's well *past expiration date.

Guide from the web:

"Use passed as a verb (an action) and past for time, direction, or position."

I passed the bus. Past due. English is weird! :)

Corrected, thanks for free ESL lesson :)
I hope they won't reject off roster firearms after class and qualifications 🤞
