I’ve always had interest in ccw’ing a m11 (full size) or m11a1 (mini mac) footprint clone; maybe an alternative to a steel frame single action? Pretty sure IA would consider shaving off the threads into a non threaded barrel, and then re-parkerized; a mod.

Seems like maybe a side charging handle would add too much of a forward bulge, and I am not sure if a AIWB kydex holster would even work with the side cocking handle on side charging upper. Top charging upper would probably need a kydex holster with more of a cut out for clearance of the cocking handle.

Idk man, I tried that for a number of years with various infinities and full size Atlases, just couldn't convince myself it was worth the extra weight, discomfort, and hassle of a full size 2011. The largest I can go nowadays and still consistently carry for 8-12 hours+ is an Atlas Ares (4.25) or a 4inch compact carry 2011 like a Staccato C4X or Wilson Combat EDC x 9.

The aggressive beavertails on some infinities just aren't fun to carry with AIWB. At least for me.

on a bulk right now, but usually between 170-175 when cutting down for the summer and mostly muscle at 5'9', size medium-large hands (probably average to above average for my size).

Even during my bulk I've still got a large drop between my waist and shoulders/chest so concealment is never really the problem for a full size 2011, it's moreso the weight and all the bending, crouching, getting in and out of vehicles and places, etc. When I'm carrying I'm usually gone for the entire day and sometimes that means 8, 12, 16 hours without a break.

I for sure appreciate the capacity, shootability, weight for reducing felt recoil, and extra grip length of a full size gun, but I can get like 90% of the performance out of a shorter barreled compact gripped ported/comped 2011. And at least for me, when I do the math, I'll take 90% cold capability 100% of the time versus 100% capability 50-75% of the time.

I'm down to carry an infinity again if I can convince Brandon to do a titanium 3.75 inch PIB compact grip drop and actually win it.

My Dan Wesson. Not bougie to others, however was the very first pistol I purchased for my CCW. It came in satin. Spent 5 hours wet sanding with 1k grit to 20k grit making it chrome.

I actually heavily prefer the aesthetics of the 1.0 over the 2.0 anyways. The visible screws just ruin the aesthetics of an otherwise pretty classic looking gun.

I mean it doesnt bother me as the visible screws are to allow for grip panel changes. I would like it if i could get slim grips for my 1.0, but aint gonna happen. I do wonder why more companies dont go the HK route with the LCI. Why do so many use that top of frame thing that can potentially get in the way of optics. And why did Wilson not make this thing optic cut. I got mine (1.0) cut by Wilson, but it took 6 weeks and cost a pretty penny.

Maybe if someone had a decent 2011/DS 1911/1911 widebody offering that was even a true sub-compact. But, I've not liked the 2024 C/CS and dislike the SFX 9 3.25 for how little grip texture there is. The C4X seems to be a sweet spot in terms of shootability to weight, but I'm still holding out hope for a 3.75 Titanium Infinity PIB with a compact grip - it'll weight around what I already carry and still be highly shootable + the Ti should wear better over time than the Aluminum frame. Also trying to source a NHC Counselor for single stack carry.

Wilson is just slow to change overall. The armor tuff finish is awful and wears so quickly/easily and the Wilson optic plate system/cut is pretty huge/not very deep.

Too bad NHC won't do the IOS for an external extractor otherwise that might be a good option.

At this point I think the XMacro HD is probably more likely. The magazine been around longer and the P365 is far more popular than the 43x. I love the 1911/2011 platform but I'm beginning to realize maybe it's not worth the effort (or money) to find an EDC worthy one when there are good micro options out there. I tried the 24C just like you did only to realize hey this thing is actually a bit taller than a G45 while holding fewer rounds. The "compact" really isn't all that compact.

I'm still gonna give the C3.6 or C4X a try though.

No clue on the on roster version, but the normal 2.0 is fine. A bit pricey off roster price wise, but it’s a solid shooter and well built.

Yah, strangely the C/CS were just weird in the hand to me and I prefer no grip safety on my carry guns when I get the choice.

The C4X is excellent though. One of my favorite carry 2011s to date and I’ve tried about all of them at this point I think.
