What are the Total Costs for CCW these days?

Just got my CCW approved in Santa Clara County on Friday, total cost was $1,971.02

$1,009.02 for the application and processing fees, $415 for psych eval, $113 for livescan, $434 for training and range fees.

I was close to that. Roughly $1600 all said and done. 7.5 months.

$180 for initial fee
$0 for live scan
$275 for 2 day class
$125 for uploading passing the class and making and sending the card.
Total about $600.
Took about 4 monthz from start to finish.

Sacramento county all in including the class and CC fees was around $1100ish a few months ago.

Range qualification at sheriffs range was $0.

So, not including the class; $160 +$140 (livescan) =$300
I have come to realize co co county policy has been known to be considered restrictive; but their prices are priced very fairly and reasonable. I have also learned to realize that at least they don’t require the handguns on the permit to be on roster compared to Brentwood.

For how conservative Brentwood seems to be and was when I was in HS I’m shocked the chief of police has some pretty hostile policies and they make you pay for psych eval too

I'm thinking that most of the people that replied to this thread, did not get their CCW "recently". For a new CCW today, you need a 16 hour class. Thats a statewide requirement.

I started the process recently. So I'm not finished. But my cost breakdown is as follows:

Paid thus far
1) Application: $232.73
2) Livescan: $113.00

Upcoming
3) 16 hour class in Ventura County: $500-$700
4) Finalize application: $232.73

Total cost: $1078.46-$1278.46

I live in the city of Ventura. The cost of training is pretty high. I've seen the list of approved trainers. But less than half have web sites. So my estimation on pricing is based on the ones that do and display their price. The lower cost ones would require a fairly long drive time. So I'd likely go with the more expensive classes, simply for the convenience factor. We'll have to see happens if/when I get approved. I did my livescan on the 8th, and it showed as completed online on the 9th. So its only been a week since the livescan was finalized. Online portal just says "assigning to processor shortly....".

I did have a Psych questionnaire and interview with Psycologist that was covered in the Application fees, not sure the new "Psych Evaluation" is the same thing though. It was a live Zoom Interview where I took the test while on Zoom then she reviewed the answers and had about 20 or so questions on some of my answers.

Funny story when she started the interview she said "I want you to remember 3 words and I will ask you to repeat them at the end of the interview. Apple, Car, Pen". I started jotting them down, and she yelled "I didn't say you could write them down". I said "I didn't want to forget them and you didn't mention I could not write them down". We quickly moved on. Lol

However, there is a legal maximum fee that can be collected for one; and my recollection is it being capped at $90 or so. Ventura county doesnt require one; so I don't anticipate having to deal with that.

Previous statutes capped psych evals at $150.

SB 2 changed that. It’s now wide open:

(e) (1) If a psychological assessment on the initial application is required by the licensing authority, the license applicant shall be referred to a licensed psychologist acceptable to the licensing authority. For an applicant for a license issued pursuant to subdivision (b) of Section 26150 or subdivision (b) of Section 26155, the licensing authority may either allow the applicant to complete a virtual psychological assessment, where the applicant appears by video and audio, or approve an examination provider located within 75 miles of the applicant’s residence. The applicant may be charged for the actual cost of the assessment. In no case shall the amount charged to the applicant for the psychological assessment exceed the reasonable costs to the licensing authority.
(2) Additional psychological assessment of an applicant seeking license renewal shall be required only if there is compelling evidence of a public safety concern to indicate that an assessment is necessary. The applicant may be charged for the actual cost of the assessment. In no case shall the cost of psychological assessment exceed the reasonable costs to the licensing authority.

Hansen runs a hybrid program. Classes at home, then range day.

(Not sure how they work proving you had 16 hrs of training).

That added cost later too because I noticed the XXS or XS uni-qlo collared cotton polo shirt that has shrunk in the dryer really caused me to print; and when grabbing items at the grocery store at top aisle, I need to pull down on the bottom of my shirt. I noticed I needed to start buying size small clothing. Found some baggier collared polo small size shirts at GaP, luckily they were having a sale during that time; trying on different shirts in the dressing room, moving my body in different positions in the mirror, taking selfies at different angles, and seeing if I could notice a bulge.

Parts of it are still rural, I went to HS there 2011 and it was pretty suburban but had the farm parts on the edges, now it’s built up a lot more and a lot of Indians and Bay Area transplants moved in, just a big suburb type city now trying to keep Antioch out. It’s more like McMansion central than rural

I’ve gotten some longer polos but pretty much just wear the same normal clothes as I did before. Polo and jeans or a t shirt and jeans etc
