Switching from p365 to HK P2000SK v3

I sold my full size p320 because I wanted to trade platforms not because I was worried it was unsafe, but it had a manual safety which on full size pistols I consistently use.

HK VP9SK is the only CC anyone ever needs though thing is perfection.

A P2000sk was one of my first carry pistols, still have it and still like it. Mine is LEM, if I were doing it over would go DA/SA although both are good street triggers. With either it takes a little more training up front, but there is a greater level of reassurance being able to ride the hammer back into the holster. And, HK reliability is legendary for a good reason. The only downside is that there are few options to get an optics cut.

Have never fired a P365 and I'm currently choosing not to spend money on anything Sig. As a RSO, I've seen lots of folks struggle to hit accurately with the smaller grip modules. Use a bigger module, and it's just one of many choices.

If you are V3 I would imagine deing over holstering SA would be preferred, but to each their own

I decock it and thumb over the hammer. Then it can't go anywhere - forward or backward

I won’t appendix carry as seems unsafe. Just got a P229 to swap out one of my striker fired pistols as I prefer seeing/feeling a hammer and I like the longer and harder initial pull.

The magazine release on the P2000 series is one of the worst I've ever experienced. I would keep the p365 for carry if I were you.

train with your carry gun and it won't be a problem.. I actually prefer the paddle mag release to a button

I love carrying my P2000SK, it's a do it all well sort of gun, not a micro so it shoots well and higher capacity, not heavy, not too large of grip or barrel. Never malfunctioned.

I have carried both, seems unusual to go from a smaller thin Sig P365 to the bigger HK (Wider).

I like both, but after years of carry I find the Sig P365 hands down is the better carry option.

Having said that, both are fine guns and neither has had so much of a hiccup after years of use. Though I no longer own either of those models anymore.

More accurate and less recoil I think. The P2000SK/P30SK are more shootable, arguably more reliable as well. Also DA/SA is better for a skilled shooter I think. With the slightly extended P30SK mag you also get 15 round capacity with a grip that is still pretty thin but you can get all fingers on easily.

True, but most skilled shooters are going to lean towards striker or single action tbh.

Did your P2000SK come with one or two magazines. HK website states two magazines and Turners only came with one for me. And they swear they all only have one.

Mine came with 2 mags total, in 2016. Pretty sure they stopped making them around 2025? P30SK is still made, identical other than the grip change.

I just started jail on a P2000SK at Turner's (I know.... but they are having a sale that even my garage FFL guy said he couldn't beat, and he beats everything). I am switching from the p365 and sacrificing a little size for that long, heavy DA first pull on the SA/DA HK (Specifically did not want the LEM version for that one reason). I have had this constant nagging feeling with the striker fire sig pointed at my junk all day after watching some hit pieces on youtube regarding sig...., and coincidentally we sold some furniture to a random guy yesterday, and he is on his 8th year as a marine corps armorer... We got to talking and he said he's never seen so many ND reports coming through since they started using the M18, and that sig is nothing but dodgy when responding and always blaming something else, even the "ammo".

Has anyone made a similar swap for that safety reason? How did it work out ? I'm testing the waters on selling the 365 but might hold onto it.

Sticking with the P365 and manual safety. I wish I could get a P365 with an external hammer that was either DAK or DA/SA for the reasons you mentioned.

I have a P2000SK in .40 and its nearing 10k rounds down it without ever having a misfire, ftf or a fte or stovepipe. Its the best handgun I own. I do like the trigger but they're not for everyone. I use it for bug matches and people can't believe its not a 9mm.

Even better in 9mm haha. Yep, HK is so crazy reliable. I’ve never had a malfunction with mine yet
