Things better on the PDP/PDP compact
1. The Performance Duty Trigger of the PDP is so great! it even beats both the Glock Performance Trigger/stock Echelon trigger; somewhere like 4-4.5lb pull weight with very clean trigger pull.
2. The Performance Duty Grip Texture is the best grip texture I've even experienced; the design of the finger grooves on both sides of the grip is A+.
3. It shoots so accurate! I got better gouping with PDP compact(4.0") than Echelon(4.5").
4. Adjustable rear sight.
Cons:
1. It is fat!
2. Needs red dot adaptor.

Things better on the Echelon
1. TRUE 100% ambi control! no need to flip the mag release to the other side like PDP/P320/Glock gen 5/M&P 2.0...etc. good for lefty or one-hand/weak hand only operations.
2. Better optic cut design, just change the pins(3 sets included), you can install most of the red dots easily, no adapter plate needed; plus higher sights, can do 1/3 co-witness even with Trijicon RMR red dot installed.
3. Almost same size as G17, noticable thinner than PDP, and slightly lower bore axis.
4. It combines all the goodies/features of P320/G17 gen5/PDP and HS produkt made it even better!
Cons:to be honest, I can't think of any....

For me the tail is too flat and it rubs on the thumb knuckle really bad. I actually modified it today with sand paper to change the angle. I’ll be going to the range in the morning to test it out. Hopefully everything goes well.

I’ve read multiple threads on Reddit of people complaining about the same thing so you guys better make sure you fire at least 20 rounds before you buy it or you will hate it.

A big negative for me is the lack of Wilson Combat grip module but this is not the fault of Echelon. Also, the grip modules available from 3rd party companies are very expensive. Cheapest I’ve seen is $275

Plus there's no so-called freedom week mags for the Echelon, don't see any reason for me to get an off roster one; with those considerations, I sold my off roster Echelon exact July last year and bought some PLTR, quite happy with my decisions.

$629.98*(1+7.75%+11%) + $37.19 = $785.29.

PLTR grabbed my attention. Congrats!

Just wondering why you dont like selling off roster to non LE? Honest question.

I know some departments really come down on their officers for this. Especially after some officers got busted for dealing without a license. Brings a negative light on the department.

If you sell one or two a year you should be fine but it’s the people who selling many and right after purchasing is what causes problems

I didnt like the grip angle of mine... its been sitting in my safe waiting for me to get some aftermarket grips.... I want a california model for the manual safety... but im afraid it will have compatibility issues with the grip I end up deciding on

It’s not “you guys” that I hate, it’s the California Department of justice. There is a “gray area “ when it comes to selling off guns.

I paid roughly $699 for mine. After DROS, taxes and transfer fees, expect to be somewhere in the $850-$900 range. You might get lucky and find it on sale somewhere. But I wouldn’t expect that to be anytime soon.

It's not really a "gray area". The law specifically calls out the private purchase and resale by peace officers, it's published right on the DOJ site:

Group 1 (for use in the discharge of their official duties):

• The Department of Justice.
• A police department.
• A sheriff’s official.
• A marshal’s office.
• The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
• The Department of the California Highway Patrol.
• Any district attorney’s office.
• Any federal law enforcement agency.
• The military or naval forces of this state or of the United States.

Purchase, Use, and Resale Restrictions: The sale to, or purchase by, sworn members of these agencies is also permitted. These sworn members may purchase non-roster handguns for personal use and may generally sell or transfer the non-roster handgun to any firearm eligible purchaser at a licensed firearm dealer.

How is the Echelon grip angle/feel compared to the PDP? Not that concerned just curious if it's really different - I'm pretty adaptable for that stuff, I've never really picked something up that I couldn't shoot comfortably (Been shooting a G20SF and XD9 Subcompact recently and have no trouble switching between the two). I have deposits on both but trying to determine which one to buy (not getting both...yet).

Echelon feels like a Glock (maybe a little less grip angle), PDP is a more "traditional" grip angle. I'm all about the PDP -- both plastic and SF. Love mine and wish I didn't get rid of my plastic ones.

That’s great news! I bought two, one for me and one for the wife. She didn’t like shooting mine, so the other new one has been parked in my safe. Now that’s is on the roster, I think I’ll sell it for fair market value, considering they won’t be in stock for a while. I never really liked selling off-roster guns to non LE.

Btw. One of the best 9mm I’ve ever shot IMHO

Just dry fire draws for a few minutes a day and you'll become acclimated to the new grip angle.

For anyone wondering, at $650 that’s $834 out the door OTD (10.50%, 11%, +DROS 37.19). Could be less depending on your tax %.

Can't say enough good things about this pistol. I'm positive the CA compliant version will be just as impressive. My vote is for all government/ LE contracts to replace it for the Sig P320. A definite must buy you're on the fence. BTW, I have extra mags for sale if anybody's interested.
