I have zero pistols with a magazine disconnect, other than an old Smith 4506. Is that something that can be disabled in most modern striker fire roster guns?

Almost all can be removed/modified/bypassed.

That’s great news! I bought two, one for me and one for the wife. She didn’t like shooting mine, so the other new one has been parked in my safe. Now that’s is on the roster, I think I’ll sell it for fair market value, considering they won’t be in stock for a while. I never really liked selling off-roster guns to non LE.

Btw. One of the best 9mm I’ve ever shot IMHO

california guns are usually more. I always see cheap guns in other states but CA gun store always charge more. Plus, taxes on guns is nearing 20% now plus $43 DROS.

Luckily I sold my Echelon last year for $1,000 because I knew SA will put it on the roster(" reddit rumors" from ammobros) and list it for the same MSRP as other non-CA models(learned it from Hellcat & XD-M series).

The basic model of the Echelon was like $649 on the website last year, so it doesn't really surprise me to see that Turner's/Ammobros can list it for $629.98/$649.99.

CA PDP's MSRP is $649.99, when I saw this price couple months ago, I was quite confident the Echelon will have a little lower MSRP than the CA PDP.

Plus there's no so-called freedom week mags for the Echelon, don't see any reason for me to get an off roster one; with those considerations, I sold my off roster Echelon exact July last year and bought some PLTR, quite happy with my decisions.

It’s not “you guys” that I hate, it’s the California Department of justice. There is a “gray area “ when it comes to selling off guns.

I paid roughly $699 for mine. After DROS, taxes and transfer fees, expect to be somewhere in the $850-$900 range. You might get lucky and find it on sale somewhere. But I wouldn’t expect that to be anytime soon.

If you buy off roster as LE and then turn around and selling it right away, I can see how this might be a problem. Other than this,I haven't heard of a gray area. If this were true, LE would not be selling so many guns on classified.

In case anyone was wondering, Wilson Combat just replied back to me saying they have no plans on releasing a grip module for the Echelon. P320 and P365 only. Lame.

I guess they only like guns that shoot for no reason. LOL

Freedom week mags is a good reason. Has anyone shot both? I’d be curious to know if freedom week compatibility of the PDP is worth it over the echelon.

San Diego, we voted NO to the increase of sales tax last year.

Things better on the PDP/PDP compact
1. The Performance Duty Trigger of the PDP is so great! it even beats both the Glock Performance Trigger/stock Echelon trigger; somewhere like 4-4.5lb pull weight with very clean trigger pull.
2. The Performance Duty Grip Texture is the best grip texture I've even experienced; the design of the finger grooves on both sides of the grip is A+.
3. It shoots so accurate! I got better gouping with PDP compact(4.0") than Echelon(4.5").
4. Adjustable rear sight.
Cons:
1. It is fat!
2. Needs red dot adaptor.

Things better on the Echelon
1. TRUE 100% ambi control! no need to flip the mag release to the other side like PDP/P320/Glock gen 5/M&P 2.0...etc. good for lefty or one-hand/weak hand only operations.
2. Better optic cut design, just change the pins(3 sets included), you can install most of the red dots easily, no adapter plate needed; plus higher sights, can do 1/3 co-witness even with Trijicon RMR red dot installed.
3. Almost same size as G17, noticable thinner than PDP, and slightly lower bore axis.
4. It combines all the goodies/features of P320/G17 gen5/PDP and HS produkt made it even better!
Cons:to be honest, I can't think of any....

For some, this is not a good thing. First, more moving parts = more things to go wrong. Also, if using this a duty gun, or even a CCW, having the magazine release exposed on the outside while carried can subject it to being inadvertently pressed and dumping the magazine. With some holsters, not an issue, but with others, it could be a thing.
