Mind sharing what kind of printer are you using? I'm torn between the Bambu X2D (300 deg C max) and Qidi Q2 (which can handle 370 deg C high temp filaments eg PPS and PPA)

Qidi Q2 owner here. So far it's been great... until last Friday. I have no clue what happened, but somehow or another the print didn't stick to the plate, I didn't catch what happened, and it enveloped its hotend and fan with all the PA6-GF that was supposed to be on the plate instead.

I can attest to the strength of PA6-GF, as that summotherless wasn't coming off either hotend or fan. I managed to get both parts off the printer head, and that looks to be the extent of the damage, which is nice.

Qidi's been responsive so far -- they're saying they'll ship a new hotend and fan under warranty, but haven't yet. To be fair, I inquired about this Friday night, not exactly the best timing to get warranty work done.

FWIW, I've had the printer since May and have done at least a couple of dozen prints prior, both PLA and PA6-GF. I bought it for the same reason you're considering it -- the high temp filaments. I'm not regretting the purchase, as I'm hoping this was a one-off fluke and not something more.

Some interesting new items added to the stable here since Mrs. EBR Works gave me a 3D printer late last year.

3D printed lower and 3D printed .22 suppressor. Has a CMMG .22 pistol upper as shown.

The lower, printed in PLA +, required drilling out most of the holes to get them to spec. With that done, it went together well with a standard LPK. Runs great with .22 and 5.56 uppers. The only issue was the pivot pin hole was off longitudinally by about 1/32". I printed a slightly smaller pin in PLA + that works fine as a easy solution. About $2 in filament + the LPK cost.

As to the can, printed in PETG-HF, it's a FTN.5 Rimfire Flow. There are multiple designs from this creator freely downloadable. I have not shot it yet, but should be pretty quiet with subs since it has huge internal volume. Since the Form 1 was free (took 60 days), cost was under $10 including filament, machine bushing for the serial number and a thread adapter from 3/4 16 to 1/2 28. All engraving other than the serial number was integrated into the print. The serial number was applied to the machine bushing with a stamp set and the bushing epoxied in place. The print provides for a depression on the end for this purpose.

NGL, I would love for some tooling shops or manufacturers that want to make a name for themselves get into the airsoft realm. Airsoft 2011s that adapt to the hi capa compatibility blue print, or do stuff like gunsmithnrosairsoft could make a splash in the market. Where I do airsoft they're talking about starting up a competition pistol league. Sig already has their own P365 that uses C02. Might have to go that route, we will see.

In all fairness, probably the coolest thing I’ve ever printed in general. At one point of my life I was (adhd) I swear I was going to quit my job and 3d print accessories full time. This print was probably the coolest, but was a failure.

Found it on somewhere online, but some sort of cool shroud that tacticools out your old heritage 22lr.

I've printed a bunch of loading blocks and ammo boxes for various calibers; scope/flashlight caps and ARDs; rail covers; barrel coolers (using $10 blower fans from Amazon); various storage/organizational items; and so many fidget spinners from 2 to 8.5 inches across. The giant ones have been hugely popular!

I never did understand. Of course on those forums the mods are not as friendly or just not as invested. Never got an answer other than "nope".

It's a liability for the site and we don't like problems. Firearms are inherently a sensitive subject, with 3d printing the site would open itself up to hosting files that might be illegal. The fact that there's a bill for a 3d printer roster is evidence that the state doesn't like that sort of thing.

For CNC parts, its the same thing. It can be bad when people share files to make things freely.

Anyone up to date on the 3D printing laws for CA? Wondering if I can 3D print mag blocks so if I go compete in a free state I could buy and use standard cap mags, then permanently install (epoxy) mag blocks to bring them back into CA so I don’t have to just toss them or give them away to someone at the match. Or are we literally not allowed to 3D print ANY gun related part?

Can you possibly 3d print mag extensions ? I recently bought 5 officer 1911 mags and they do not fit my government model 1911. I F'up and read the ad wrong now I'm stuck with 5 mags I cannot use. I like the fact that they are 8 rounds and would love to keep them and use them but that modification would need to be done for them to fit as they are too short and from this mod I think others can benefit from it as well.
