So, who is 3D printing cool firearms stuff?

On a less legally dubious note I’d love to 3D print a barrel shroud and match weight to make the new .44 Rhinos into something like this thing from Resident Evil, don’t think there’s any issues since they don’t have a magazine.

Basically making a really nerdy Rhino Match Master in .44 instead of .38spl
if u have the tools, the stl is already out for requiem . u can reverse eng something?
 
You can apply for a form 1 with the ATF to manufacture your item ( SBR, SBS or suppressor in free states, non-AW AOW in CA). Approval takes currently about 45 days.
Meanwhile my CA AOW stamp is still pending from 1/19.. Sad
 
My 3d printer has been getting more use lately; patch catcher for cleaning the barrel, cartridge-specific funnels, stock spacers. Also have my hornady gauges in printed cases now and working on a case for my OAL gauge to hold all its modified cases.
 
Someone could theoretically 3D print mag blocks, buy standard cap magazines out of state, epoxy the mag blocks in so the mags are permanently limited to 10rds, then bring them back to CA without running afoul of any laws right? Or are there rules about 3D printing ANY parts at all? I’ve only seen laws about not manufacturing firearms (like the disclaimer you have to agree to when buying parts now).

My uncle wants me to come to a gun show out of state and just wondering if I can buy mags for dirt cheap and bring them back using this method.

Freedom week was over 3 years ago and the statute of limitations for the crime of “high cap mag” import/manufacture/purchase is 3 years so even freedom week is kinda a moot point now right? Even if you bought a month before or after freedom week you couldn’t be charged for it. It’s still a cute explanation of how you never broke the law though

Is PET or PA6 good enough for receivers?

(I'm doing this outside of California for the virtue signaling try hards here 🤣)

Mind sharing what kind of printer are you using? I'm torn between the Bambu X2D (300 deg C max) and Qidi Q2 (which can handle 370 deg C high temp filaments eg PPS and PPA)

I printed the holsters with PA6-cf. The other stuff is just PLA.

I have the Bambu X2D with AMS and I am very happy so far. I added a creality stand alone filament holder so I could keep the PA6-CF dry during printing. I have never touched a 3d printer till 10 days ago. Everything I have printed so far has been found or customized in the Bambu app.

Thanks for sharing! Appreciate it. Do you use the second nozzle on the X2D with AMS or strictly for support structure? I'll look into the Creality holder as I am also planning on PA6 CF.

I have not used the second nozzle yet.

This is the creality filament dryer I got. I fed straight from the dryer to the printer so I could dry the whole time.
