This was the YouTube guy I mentioned that says nogo in restaurants with alcohol, which is contrary to what was stated in my 16 Hour Class.

This guy also says vehicle storage in a center console vault is a nogo in his opinion??? Again in conflict with my 16 Hour Class.

He also says carry of mags over 10 is OK with the petition to SCOTUS, again, in conflict with my 16 Hour Class.

When was you 16 hour class? Your IA may not allow over 10 round mags.

These instructors need to submit their course material to the IA for approval. When an IA approves it they will not make adjustments to it generally.

So even if they put something "Wrong" in there and the IA doesn't correct them, they kindof have to run with it.

I doubt these IA are really reviewing the course material with a fine tooth comb.

Regarding the center console, you should be able to keep your firearm in the center consul without a vault (for quick access)… concealed is concealed (that would be my take, but it is also what my CCW instructor said).

I doubt I am going to aiwb carry when I’m driving, so mine will be in a holster mounted on the inside of the center console.

It needs to be in a vault/secured if you leave it unattended in your vehicle (I have a small Vaultek safe for that).

There are no federal injunctions in-place to the best of my knowledge. The 9th circuit, in March 2025, ruled this law to be constitutional and SCOTUS has not yet agreed to hear the appeal. There was a temporary injunction in place from September 2023 at the district court level but, that injunction was reversed by the en banc 9th circuit court.

National parks are literally the last place in the state you need to carry, the city park I run my dog in every day is definitely the first place and it's strictly prohibited. Seriously though the Backcountry in California is just not a place you need a firearm, save that weight for more water because while no one has ever been killed by a black bear in Yosemite, many have died from dehydration and heat exhaustion.

Back when I was a youngster, I used to carry my new to me .41 mag in a cross-draw holster while backpacking in the Seirra, until I actually ran into a big bear and the Aussie dog chased him off. PAX

People have been telling you. You don’t want to believe it. You can believe what you want, but other inexperienced gun owners like you are going to read your FUD and believe it. That doesn’t help anyone, and it harms the 2A community as a whole. I could waste my time explaining everything to you, but a) your antagonism is off-putting, and b) you would just want to argue about it anyway. Put in some time researching the current state of various gun laws and litigation in California if you really do care to know what you somehow have missed over the last decade or so. Use Google, search YouTube, and join the CRPA. It’s all been explained countless times before.

FYI:

This document from the CRPA is woefully outdated and was published 5 years before the ruling by the en banc 9th circuit in 2025.

Here is a link to the CRPA website where they admit: "Today’s en banc decision upholds the state’s ban on magazines holding over 10 rounds". No stay exists in this case (that means the law is in force). A petition for a writ of certiorari was filed with SCOTUS on August 15, 2025, by the plaintiffs. This is basically a REQUEST that the court hear their appeal. SCOTUS has not agreed to hear the appeal and has set a deadline of October 20, 2025 for the state to respond. Here is a link to the SCOTUS docket for the case.

Feel free to tell the world that you are carrying a weapon with an illegal magazine but, don't be surprised if the CA DOJ subpoenas your identifying information and you find your CCW suspended for violating firearms laws.

Wrong. For what it’s worth, I literally just renewed my CCW again last month using . . . wait for it . . . Freedom Week magazines, and no one even bothered to ask when or how I got them. THAT is factual and the current state of the law in California.

But keep on posting your FUD, since spreading misinformation is apparently your thing. The mods will probably delete my posts pretty soon anyway, if history is any guide.

I agree with the center console being ok without a vault, as long as you are the only person in the car.

There is wording about control of the gun, and I personally I interpret this situation with others in the car as they also have control of the gun.

Good point. That is me 99.9% of the time. I am single and an empty nester, BUT, there are times when my adult children may be in town, or someone else may be in my car. In that case it will be in my direct control, and not in the center console.

Yup, I'm renewing next month just to have it in case this gets resolved in court. If it doesn't in the next two years, I won't renew. It's become a waste of time and money. Literally every place I go is prohibited now. For the concealed is concealed people, might as well not have a CCW, illegal is illegal, but everyone has got make their own decisions on the matter.

Yes and no. Are you more likely to shoot someone in those places or just get caught in those places? Are the cops more likely to warn you in those places with a CCW or less likely to warn you without a CCW? I think it is less risky to have the CCW and more risky not to, but in the end legally there is no difference. It is the points in between that the CCW might be worth the cost and time hassle. However, I respect anyone who says screw this state and does what they want anyway.

In my case, I'm only in CA Mon-Thu. Fri-Sun I'm in Arizona. While I'm in CA I literally go nowhere as I work from home. On the rare occasion I do go somewhere, it is a restaurant, which is a no go, or the grocery store, which shares a parking lot with a brewery, also a no go. So I'm really at the point of why bother.

Actually, the fact that it is a shared parking lot makes it a "go". Only parking lots dedicated to 'sensitive places' are considered 'sensitive places' themselves. You are good-to-go when out for groceries (just don't enter the Brewery next door).
