Preferred EDC’s

I was swapping between a Glock 43 (w/ Vickers +2 extension) and Glock 19 for years depending on what I was wearing, but as soon as I got a P365 and built it into a Spectre/X-Macro setup, that was pretty much it for me. It ticked all the right boxes. Just waiting for Sig to release 365 AXG grip modules and I'm gonna build another.

It's small, lightweight, has amazing capacity, all the modern features you want in a gun, and I love the crossover carry size so it handles more like my G19 despite being closer in size to my G43. I still have a soft spot for Glock too though, and will eventually get my hands on a G43X, but I'm not in a huge hurry right now.

In a free state, I like to carry a variety of guns. Bigger is better because the purpose of the task is gun fighting. Glock 17/22 and 20/21, 1911 Commander and Government and S&W N-Frames are a few examples. The Glock mid-frame is a great compromise size. I do like the Glock 26, but it's just getting too small at that point; it crosses the line into emphasis on "convenience" rather than "fighting".

I must say that the Browning High Power MK III in 9mm is one of the best carry guns for me. It's like a 19L: short grip with long slide. The short grip facilitates concealment and the long slide aids in shooting. 13+1 or 15+1 capacity is just fine. The BHP 40 was larger and built around a 10 round magazine, but it was a bit snappy.

If Browning released another MKIII in 9mm (not that new abomination), I'd buy three straight up and send one off to Nighthawk immediately.

I have a Shield 1.0 and a Glock 19.3 with Holosun EPS. Seeing all the micros coming to CA are tempting but I invested too much into my Shield.

Hot weather: 365xl with holosun 407k and different grips depending on attire (standard grip for ultra light clothing like gym, xl grip with formal or light t-shirt, macro grip w/ tlr7 sub with thicker shirt or night time)

Cold weather: 320sc with x-compact grip in 357 sig (yes, I know, 357 sig... but I like the ballistics against heavy clothing. And I stacked ammo when it was cheap)

My problem is I'm a tall thin guy with big hands. Getting used to the 365 grips was a learning curve, and getting used to conceal both firearms properly was also a challenge.

Shield 2.0 most of the time. S&W 640 when Shield is not easily concealed. CZ-75 when cold enough to hide.
Only allowed 3 in San Joaquin County.

Carry 640 loaded with .38 special. Don't want to fire .357 in 2 inch barrel without hearing protection.

I have trained and shot mostly with CZ75’s. My preferred carry is P-01. I do love the Sig P365 XL . I’ve trained and competed with it. The Wilson Combat grip with 1911 angle makes it similar to the CZ75. I have a G19 since I’m allowed a 3rd but never carry it.

I have gone back and forth between discreet carry clips and single clip. Single clip just doesn’t hold the belt as well. JM Custom Kydex holsters and mag pouches.

Not to thread jack, but do the Wilson combat grips make that much of a difference with your 365?

Springfield EMP is my main carry. I love my 9mm 1911’s that I used in IDPA. Shield and G19 never get any love.

I could have 3 guns in my CCW, but so far I only have my G26 listed in my card.

I thought about adding my G19 to my card, yet my G26 (with a TLR-6 light and a RMR red-dot, if I prefer to) would do the job for me and it is smaller than my G19 to carry (it could also use all my G19 magazines.)

Most of the time, I just carry my G26 with its iron sights (mine came with the night sights from factory.) I qualified it - with the iron sights - at 25 yards, and I kinda liked to keep it simple.

You may want to get a second Glock 26 and add it. Otherwise, just add at least one other gun just in case something happens, such as needing to go back to Glock for repair.

In the following order based on weather and whether I’m hitting the mountains, ie bear/puma territory.

XDS-9
G19 gen 4
G20 10mm

you ever think about upgrading to the shield plus? they have a on roster version now.

I mainly carry a 9mm Springfield EMP. I also have a Colt Defender and a Kimber Stainless II on the license. I'm a 1911 fan.

I recently picked up a Hellcat Pro and a G19 that I'll add or swap in to the list at renewal.

My NAA .22 Mag revolver is with me 16/7 (I don’t sleep with it, haha!!). Truly an EDC.

Wake up, it’s in my shorts/sweats/pants pocket. Working in the yard, out for a run (it’s done a bunch of marathons, haha!!!), bike rides, out to eat, you name it.

I settled on it after trying to find the smallest EDC. Here were my final selections several years ago

IMG_4811.jpeg

I found a nice pocket holster for it and keep it stoked with Hornady Critical Defense rounds.

If things are feeling spicy, I’ll ADD another carry piece (LCP, Max 9, G23, G40) but the NAA is ever present.

P365 with various configurations (mostly as standard 365 and Wilson grips or 365x with Holosun and 365x Wilson grip), p938 during hotter seasons and 43x during the winter

Mostly carry a Hellcat Pro with the extended 17rd mag with an EPS Carry and TLR7. If I’m OWB, it’ll typically be my duty or similar.
