Congrats, this was the phone interview right? Do you mind sharing what type of questions they asked?
In person at the Sherman Block building. The literally asked stupid questions, like
Are you addicted to drugs
Have you renounced your citizenship
Are you a felony
Have you been arrested
Have you been declared a danger to your self or others?
That's all super chill

They basically review application questions. Just answer the same as you wrote down. From what I remember there were a few other questions that were not on the application but softball questions.

Good to know, thanks.

I thought they were no longer doing in person interviews? Was this after the initial phone interview?

They actually had a whole system down. I saw at least 10 others in the office for interviews. I have to say they are processing at least 100 people a day. No phone interview for me

Appreciate the info again. I hope things speed along now, I'm still waiting for my first phone interview (applied Aug 2024 via Permitum) so it's going to be a long while for me lol.

Check back on me in 2027 🤣

Just saw the "Pending Appointment Completion" update today on Permitium. How long does this show pending until I can schedule an appointment? My permit expires near end of May.

Finally got the email to PTT!! Initial application was done through Permitium on 7/12/23, I had my telephone interview 7/9/2024 and just got the email. I took my training the same month I had my interview because at that time they were only 90 days behind. Your training certificate is good for one year so I submitted the certs today. In a separate email they asked for an updated phone number so I called and actually spoke to the deputy that sent me the PTT email to advise him that my phone number is correct and current but my phone marks most calls as spam and I have no control. I asked that any correspondence be sent via email and if he could make a note on my file, we'll see. Lets see how long the pick up call/email takes.

First post here (was on Calguns occasionally).

Getting closer...

3/16/24- Applied online.
7/17/25- Original scheduled interview date (scheduled it myself at time of application, it was the earliest possible date).
4/19/25- A Saturday morning, received call w/no caller ID. It was sheriff dept asking if I wanted to reschedule my interview. They left a message saying they would call back in an hour). I missed both those morning calls (lazy Saturday and didn't have my damn phone on me). They called again that afternoon (I answered the unknown caller call).

5/1/25- Received email saying I could do my live scan (was too beat after work to deal with it).
5/2/25- In person interview at the Sherman Block bldg, late morning. Did my live scan after that.

As was mentioned above, the officer just went through my application question by question). Glad I brought a printed copy because he asked me details I couldn't remember clearly (I reported a couple no fault accidents and a ticket I went to traffic school for in 19').

I was also arrested around 91' for (4) traffic violations that had gone to warrant, and I put that on my original application (nothing too serious, I was just a bit of a procrastinator in my youth. Cleared them up right away and have walked the straight and narrow ever since).

He got surprisingly detailed on those, and I couldn't remember much other than they were things like speeding or calif stop etc.

He asked about my references, who he WILL be calling.

I also brought a copy of my military service record. I was a USMC reservist. Mid 80's between wars so do not have "veteran status". He noted the two Honorable discharges from my active duty postings (boot camp and MOS training).

The only thing I was really concerned about is my marital status. I was married in Burbank in 92' to my (now ex) Danish wife... Lived in DK for 22 years and got divorced over there (quite a painless process all things considered). I was worried that putting "single" on my application would raise a red flag if they saw I was married, but not "officially" divorced in the US (my ex is not American and not living in the States).

I brought original and translated copies of my divorce documents but he wasn't interested in those and said they would not look at it.

Will be interesting to see how long it takes from here.

Just got this email, anyone else receive this yet? Does this mean it's no longer a phone interview for the first contact?
You are receiving this email because new dates have become available for in-person interviews. As a result, your current CCW interview appointment will be rescheduled.

Please continue to monitor your email, as all further communication will be sent through Permitium. Check your spam/junk if it is not located in your inbox.

NOTE: If we are unable to contact you via the phone number or email you provided, your application will be withdrawn.

Sincerely,

Does anyone know if we’re still able to qualify with a different firearm when going to training than the ones listed in the initial application?

I'm pretty sure your 3 listed firearms are not set in stone, until you submit training.

I finally got my ptt email
Good to hear Lucky! Hope the rest goes smoothly. Still waiting to see if any improvement to the pick up timeline has taken place. I'll post as soon as I hear anything, good luck.

Got my telephone interview 7/9/24 and just got the PTT email 4/29/25. I know this sucks to hear but this is the most current that I've seen.
Was there any kind of delay in your live scan processing or some other reason it took so long? Seems way off from other posted timelines, like this one:

11/19/24 - Interview Call | 11/20/24 - Submit Documents | 12/28/24 - PTT E-Mail”

That was a little under a month and a half from interview to PTT email, where your wait time was over seven months.

I had my interview last Friday. My live scan results completed today. Sure as hell hope it’s not that long till I get my PTT email.

I completed my Live Scan right after I submitted my application 7/23 and have not been delayed for anything. This is LASD with no transparency for us waiting for the "process" to move forward.

So they talked to two of my three references today... They called the third, but he hasn't been able to get through to them on the call back number yet. Going to try tomorrow.

Should I take this as a sign my live scan was "approved". Can't imagine they would waste time calling references if there were any snags in my background check.

Anyone know about how long it was from when their references contacted to getting their PTT notification?

Thanks!

Safe to assume this is an in person meeting now? Are they just ditching the phone interview altogether?
