One had to do with eligibility (I don’t know the details on that), the other was that they will be good for four years instead of two down the road (don’t remember the effective date for that either, but definitely a step in the right direction).

FYI, as far as I know this bill has not really gotten any traction even though two Sheriffs have backed it.

Our legislature hates us and the process being difficult and required every tow years is a feature, not a bug.

Sent final payment and pickup is on the 22nd of December!

Hey all,
I decided to apply yesterday for LASD. The earliest appointment was for January in 2029. Is this normal?

That doesn't sound right, should be a year out usually for the first appointment unless they have had some insane influx of new applicants...

Wonder if they are just using this as a placeholder knowing they're going to bump you up anyways.

These were the first couple of slots available. Maybe there’s something I’m missing but 3 years seems odd, considering I’ve heard everyone has been getting a year wait time.

Did you get an email for the approved for training? I applied for my renewal on 11/23/25 haven't gotten an email to proceed but the online tracker said "training Proof submission", so i took the class and put the proof up today. The only email I've received from them is from Permitium acknowledging my application.

Oh and your pickup date, is 2/18/26????

I've seen others reporting that they had the same situation initially, but were notified not too long afterward about a rescheduled date that's much sooner. Maybe give it a few days?

Just an update, I actually have my interview in roughly 1 week. It’s crazy the time reduction but thanks again for giving me a heads up.
 
Anyone knows how long it takes to pick up recently? Submitted training docs 12/28. Currently stuck in pending pickup approval
 
In the same boat. Training approved on 11/28, docs submitted on 12/13. Still pending pickup approval.

I’m guessing it’ll be on or around the 60 day mark since that’s how much time LASD gives us to complete the training and submit docs.
