Yeah, not much I can do about it.. The site will stay up so continue to let folks know about us, now that they're a bit faster, seems like folks are dealing with the search issues. But even they've noticed a traffic drop of 80-90%. The avg there is ~800 users when it used to be 8-14k. So seems like there's a shift in general that's happening, but not sure where everyone is going.

The classifieds are still moving but overall we'll have to ride the slowness out. We'll see if another wave comes about or if we'll grow organically over time.

Question. What's the process with the recommendation letters? I want to apply but I'm a little concerned. My wife was recently convicted of a felony DUI and honestly I don't want to stir the pot. Not her best day. She's not a gun owner nor does she have interested in ir access to my stuff. I know I would have to have her write a letter of confidence for me, can that hurt my chances? Once she completes her program the felony drops to a misdemeanor, 1 year. Should I wait until then? Thanks!

What recommendation letters? This is the first I am hearing of this. When I applied I didn’t need reference letters or any for renewal as well

Regarding living/married with a felon, I am not positive on the laws regarding living with them with firearms. I would wait the year till it drops personally

Does LASD consider changing the grip modules of the P365 CA version a modification?

I don’t see why not. I’m leaving mine as is OEM. But I think as long as the barrel length remains the same, grip should be fine. They don’t inspect them or anything

You do not want to do too much modification to your CCW carry firearms for numerous reasons. The two most important are functionality and legal. Don't go out of your way to cosmetically alter your CCW firearm. If you are an intelligent and responsible firearm CCW Permit holder, nobody will ever see it unless you, God forbid, need to use it. So how it looks is irrelevant. If you do in fact need to use it, I guarantee NOBODY is going to say. "Did you see how cool their gun looked?".

Changing integral OEM parts only potentially introduces possible failure. Do not rely on gimmick parts to increase your proficiency, put in the work and practice.

Two common things individuals alter are the trigger pull to a lighter poundage and or adding frivoulous cosmetic additions. Here in California you can't throw a rock without hitting a couple lawyers. What do you think the defense attourney is going to say when they get the list of modifications that were made to the firearm that injured their client? Lightened trigger pull? Punisher Skull on the grip? Etc? They're going to paint you as being a trigger happy vigilante that was purposely out looking for an excuse to use your firearm to harm their client.

If you've done your research in selecting your firearm and you put in the time training, then you should be fairly confident in your proficiency. However, you should still be willing to take additional instruction classes or at the very least practice at the range. If you are new to firearm ownership then you should definitely invest in training classes and more specifically CCW training.

Learn what IS and what ISN"T a justifiable "shoot". There are far too many videos about CCW Permit owners using their firearms in what they think is justified incidents only to find themselves facing serious charges. Don't follow their bad example.

Take away....don't "fix" a functioning device, don't put on the proverbial batman costume and most importantly...train.

Don't get me wrong, I'm guilty of "tacti-cooling" the hell out of a few of my past firearms, just never any that would trust in a self defense situation.

Nope. I added one to my list and the only thing they were concerned with was my instructor wrote down the serial wrong (swapped two numbers). I gave them the correct serial and that was that.

People who applied early July of 2022 are hovering around 24 months from application to receiving their CCW.

06/26/22 - Dropped App to Lomita Sheriff Station.
06/28/22 - Money order cashed.
04/18/23 - Received a call to schedule an interview.
04/29/23 - Live Scan initiated
05/01/23 - CCW interview completed.
04/29/23 - FBI Background completed.
05/16/23 - CA Background completed.
05/23/23 - Firearms Background completed.
08/17/23 - Received Email to proceed to Training
08/18/23 - Emailed Training Docs to LASD
10/17/23 - Got THE call to schedule pick-up.
11/15/23 - Picked up my CCW License

I took my class the first week in June. LASD will accept training Certificates up to a year before you get the email that tells you to proceed to training.

Many people did that during that time. I don’t know what the current wait time is from interview to the email to train. Hopefully it’s not longer than a year.

Id say average time from interview to PTT is 3.5 months right now. Its been slowly trending up.

Most people I know going through the process have completed training after the interview and before the PTT email, in order to speed up their process. At the end of the day, its up to you.
