My buddy and i applied for CCW/interview MAR 2024. Still waiting and waiting and waiting. Not to mention the pain of the additional BS to go and everyone's hands in our pockets when the time comes. What a nightmare this is - a true CA dream.

On another front my primary EDC (1991 S&W 3914-all Black) wanting to swap a Stock S&W Stainless slide from the same model and similar year, No Mods...is that a BoZo No-No? or Stock parts are Stock parts. Any insight?

...miss Scottsdale AZ...

You can do anything to your ccw gun as long as it’s legal. However, if you get into an altercation and use your gun then the prosecutor will nail you for every mod you have

I applied in Dec 2023, as of March 25 nothing has been scheduled. I got an email stating its 20-24 month from submission at this time to be reviewed for interview. This is beyond bonkers. I think its probably going to be 2026 that I will be called for an interview. it's a shame that someone has to wait that long.

depending on the day you got submitted I’d give it no more than 2 months

Can you direct us to some relevant cases of such?

I applied in 11/2023, received phone call May 13th 2025 for interview scheduled May 27th 2025 about 16 months when I applied. Interview lasted about 5 mins.

Just got home from picking up my renewal. I would say there was at least 30 of us picking those up, but there was definitely over 50 people in there doing interviews and there was at least 15 officers working so it sounds like LAPD is trying. And from my understanding pick up's will be the first Tuesday of every month..
how was the pick up process? i’m finally approved. i’m just waiting for the pick up date. i’m on a motorcycle so parking wouldn’t be an issue for me lol.

If any of you are up for renewal submit it right at 90 days. And also do your class before then as well. I barely made the cutoff with 9 days to spare. You still have to physically pick it up downtown. Another renewal said they only had to do a phone interview while I had to drive to Glendale from the valley for a handshake. Good luck all.

My 90 days was July 4th. I sent them an email on July 5th, received reply with premium link on July 7th, only got round to completing it today, July 11th. Auto reply with

NO INTERVIEW IS NECESSARY.
We have received your application to renew your concealed carry weapon license!
If you have not already done so, complete the required firearm training and qualification course.

· Renewing applicants must complete a minimum of 8 hours of training.
· The training must be completed no sooner than 6 months prior to your license expiration date.”

I’ll probably do the training in the next few weeks so hopefully it renews in time, if not meh.

Application was submitted 10/2023, interview 02/2025. I could have gotten a earlier date for the interview, maybe early jan 2025 but I delayed sending in docs due to my id not having my current address. now im awaiting approval from the assigned officer so I can submit the training course completion papers.

I went to my interview, literally sat down for two minutes & that was it. they asked me if my firearm was registered to me, & if I purchased here in California. & they sent me a text of approved firearms training providers then said that was it lol.
Question so if they tell you go go take training on the spot are you most likely good to go

Yes. All my references were called prior to getting the call from the officer about my livescan…kind of weird there hasn’t been any other movement since everything else has been done
I am with Lapd Ccw .. while at interview I was told to go to training would they tell me to go if I would be denied just wondering

I was also told to continue with training. Just finished my class Sunday and I've submitted my certificate. They told me my live scan came back clean and that I shouldn't worry about anything.

Just called right now and my investigator confirmed my application is still being reviewed but they’ve approved me to go ahead with doing my training.

I actually did training this time last year before sb5 passed so I still need to do an additional 8 hours to meet the new requirement. She told me to do it and upload it to permitium which should help the process go a little faster.
So if given to go ahead to train your most likely good and will get approved yes
