CCW LAPD CCW Timeline

What did you expect we live in a Looney Whacky place. Ny buddy's son just received his in the mail. I did a convenient 3 hour trip as well. How many Hoops can anyone go thru? # Doesn't matter if you want to carry here anything besides your keys, wallet and phone. I'll have another sip of that BS Please.
 
I got the email that final payment was received and permit issued 11/12/25.
Email states: Permit will be mailed out within 2-4 weeks.

Permit received IN MAIL 12/19/25.
Keep checking you mailbox gents.

So. It is 24 month permit. 104 weeks. And 2 to 4 weeks before we mail and another few days for it to be in the mail..... Almost 5 percent of the time....

I think that seven days from the time of issuance, till receipt of the card is a great improvement. At least they are mailing them out and being fairly quick about it. I guess it depends on the officer handling your license.

Just so you get an idea about LiveScan timelines. Finally got the "Firearms" completed today. Three weeks total from the day I submitted it. Uploaded this screenshot to Permitium and waiting for the detective to give me the nod to go to training.

You missed Commander / Chief review..... Where mine is sit for 10 days already
 
I am still waiting for them to contact my references since 1/23/26 after my interview... Just submitted my trainings on 2/2/26.
 
My initial ccw process took 7 months but my renewal took 3-4 months. It’s best to have everything ready prior to the interview. If you don’t have a criminal background. More than likely they will tell you to go ahead and get your shooting certificate , however I got my certificate before the interview so when the police officer told me I’m good to get the certification I gave it to her right then. That cut the time from the interview to getting my ccw license. Notice: the more you have on your record the more time it takes. It can be traffic violations, unpaid parking tickets, etc..

Do they use the picture from your Driver License? I never submitted a picture, but they did require one of the DL.

Just keep whistling and twirling thumbs until the permit arrives and then we can all celebrate the fact that we now can legally carry our guns in our backyards and maybe two more public places in California. Yaayyyy!!!!!!

I’m looking forward to carrying in my Garage. lol.
 
Still pending reference calls since 1/13/26 after my interview. Trainings submitted 2/2/26. Called LAPD and they said they let my investigator know as well. I just submitted AZ CCW app with fingerprint appointment on 2/16

AZ permit will be in my hands before any of my references are contacted i bet…
