There are so many horror stories on why you don't get involved unless you are defending yourself or your loved ones only.

That said its going to be real hard to not try to shoot the guy walking thru a parking lot and maybe randomly shooting people.

Horror stories such as? I can think of that one guy that tried to shoot the active shooter and was shot by another active shooter he didn't see. That was brutal and bad luck. There are far more successful DGU than horror stories. If the thought of shooting an active shooter in front of you scares you, just don't carry. Let those kids get killed, serves them right. /s

Objectively right. Not every man has the capability to rise to the occasion and save lives.

Objectively right for him is the correct response as its seems he was a lone wolf ready to respond.
Now had he had his two children in the car the Objectively right decision would of been to get them away from the area....

I'm fine with risking your live to help strangers in need. But not if you are putting your family and loved ones in danger.

Too many variables to say this would be objectively right for everyone in that area.

In this case engaging was the RIGHT and JUST thing to do. The counter-shooter is a hero! Good on him. Guy has serious balls and skill. The locals and PD are glazing him, rightfully so.

Don't know the specifics but I feel everytime a CCW renewal comes up they tell you a new one of people getting involved when they don't know the whole story and shooting the wrong people.

The crabs in the bucket mentality never ceases to amaze. Everytime there's some CCW hero, there's at least one guy here and on reddit saying how they'll never do that and that the hero shooter is an idiot for XYZ reason.

Yep that is one very scary thing about holding a rifle when the cops show up

Good job to that guy if Jordan is the same person.

Saw a top comment on Reddit saying competition shooting would give you “stress inoculation” to be ready for an active shooter. If you think the stress of a timer (with nothing on the line) and targets that don’t shoot back is the same as a life or death situation you’ve never been in combat or any extremely stressful situation like that.

Competition shooting provides limited stress inoculation and excellent weapon-handling practice. It is valuable, but it should not be mistaken for preparation for an actual gunfight.

Apparently the shooter is a Muslim, big if true. Wouldn’t be surprising for obvious reasons.

Local PD is treating him as a hero.

Crazily enough a friend of mine from motorcycle racing lives a few blocks from that in n out.

Like you said competition shooting is only stress against a clock.same as paintball airsoft you can be brave get up start shooting unlimited rounds be good at it but when its real bullets coming back at you you aint gonna be standing brave but probably staining your underwear.

I have never been in this kind of situation hope i never am.easy to say what you would do or wont do but you wont know til you are there and its not what you thought.

Yeah sadly I’ve been in these situations a few times both in the military doing VBSS operations and as a civilian being attacked twice. Still standing, for now.
