How Private are Y'all with your CCW?

My wife knows, someday my kids will know because I'll require them to carry as well. Why tell anyone else if you don't need to? Many of us can pass with flying colors for CCW so no need to brag to your range buddies. I consider all possibilities so even them shouldn't know about it. Barking more than you have to can always put you at a disadvantage. The word concealed in CCW as the first word should mean something to you.

Opinions vary on this subject. My opinion is that we need to do our best to normalize both gun ownership and the practice of CCW.

I don't know how to do it without talking about it.

It is called shifting overtone window. If nobody is willing to engage in advocacy even on such simple level we have lost already. It is matter of time then. Politics is downstream of culture. If it is culturally unacceptable to carry then sooner or later politics and law will follow.

You're a little shortsighted. All it takes is for a friend or family to pass the word along to the wrong person and you're done.
How so? Swatting and filing a false police report is a crime. Please be specific and use real world examples to prove your dubious and vague claim.

Your range buddies don't also CCW? Your range buddies don't know you have guns? Lol man it sure is a weird world some of you guys seem to live in. Everyone that is competent should apply for their CCW. Three of my friends from motorcycle racing have gotten their CCW because I told them I got mine. So many guys don't even know they can get one.

This!!!! this is not gatekeeping! This is for your safety and security and more importantly your security to keep your rights to your 2nd amendment. Last thing you need is for some jack nut to whistleblow you and file a restraining order against you and whatever else the stupid anti gunners of this state can think of!
How will this person know all of your biographical data, how can they articulate and justify to a court why they need a RO against you, someone they don't know or barely know, what evidence will they present of your immediate danger or harassment to them, how will they serve you? All declarations must be filed under penalty of perjury. Currently costs $435 to file for a CHRO IIRC.

The realistic risk is not that a random person magically files a successful restraining order because they heard I have a CCW. California still requires standing, facts, a declaration under penalty of perjury, service, and judicial findings. GVRO petitioners are limited categories, not random strangers.

The better argument is simple OPSEC: don’t advertise carry status to unstable people, hostile co-workers, bitter exes, clients, or random social-media audiences. But telling trusted friends, family, and other competent gun people is not “bragging.” It is normal, and it is how responsible people learn that CCW is available.
A lot of gun influencers, trainers, competitive shooters, FFLs, lawyers, cops, veterans, and CCW advocates are openly armed or openly pro-gun online and nothing catastrophic happens to them. That undercuts the forum-doomer claim that “if people know you carry, you’re done.”

I didn't say they didn't know ai have guns. But there is a difference when one or more knows I have one on my waist. Like I said I consider all possibilities & worst case scenarios. If you don't then go right ahead and tell whoever you want to tell you have CCW. You're missing the point of my message

What is your point? Don't yell in the parking lot to everyone around you that you have a gun? lol. The fear mongering gets old fast.

I’m still waiting for a real example where a random person, with no qualifying relationship or actual evidence, heard someone had a CCW and successfully got all their guns taken. California GVRO petitioners are limited categories, and restraining orders still require declarations and judicial findings.

Exactly. Just the last week I had a conversation with a guy who has probably 50 guns if not more. All kinds of stuff. And he had no idea that CCW is now easy to get and there are hundreds of thousands CCW holders in the state.
To my knowledge he applied for permit since thrn

I am going on 14 years now with a CCW.

Pretty much my entire family, in laws, relatives, and friends know I am a "gun guy". Its come up in conversation at SOME point. They know I have a ccw permit.

Even my 2 year old knows I carry a gun. I tell her its the Mystery Mouseketool, A surprise tool that will help us later LOL

Its really not that big of a deal....

I was only referring to range buddies etc. As an example, a range buddy that knows you have CCW recently started having psychological problems and for whatever reason he attempts to take your gun from you, fighting you to grab the gun. My point is not telling that person or other range buddies whatever you want to call them might help prevent to even reach that situation in the first place, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW YOU HAVE CCW. My first message was just to answer the question of this thread. I didn't say and no where in my first message says to do what I do. I was just answering a question on the thread, again if you want to tell whoever you want you have CCW then go for it. I was just give an opinion, yet you take it like I am doing something wrong. Hahaha thats funny

Do you mean talk about having a CCW license or that you are physically in the moment carrying next to the person? That’s completely different.

Man, how old are you? I'm geniunely curious. Are you a youtuber? You strike me as a twenty something, "look at me" type of guy. You do you and i'll do me. I'm not gonna try to sway you and you're surely not gonna sway me.

When I just got my permit several years ago, I told people that were close to me, that I trust. For a while everytime we connected, they would always try to figure out where my piece was, sometimes talking about it out loud at party/social functions. They didn't think about my security and privacy before mouthing off or walking around me trying to figure out where my piece was. Or I gotta worry about them mouthing off to strangers I dont even know, who can set off a chain reaction to multiple people I dont know. Whether I get whistleblown or red flagged, it's not something I want to be in a situation with. Last thing I need is some jack wad telling the police they found out I carry and they are "now afraid".

Now, i'm a bit older, it's nobody's business but mine that I have a CCW. I could care less about the stuff you're talking about. If a gun enthusiast is trying to get their CCW then they can do a simple google search and find it on their own probably faster than I can verbally explain it.

I agree with you 100% this is what I was saying multiple times on my reply to him if you want to read that as well. Hahaha he seems too young to comprehend and understand our point apparently
