GETTING PULLED OVER

Yikes. Dealing with a cop with that attitude would make me nervous, as they clearly see us not as good guys, but as potential threats to herself and her colleagues and therefore, bad guys.
lol yep. There’s a reason that a female cop yelling taser while shooting you to death is a popular meme

nothing about that in the LAPD CCW User Acknowledgement.

you might be thinking LASD which does have a duty to disclose when armed (LASD CCW Terms of Use #7)
Interesting. My CCW class was taught by retired LAPD officer, who’s a popular instructor among attorneys. The classroom portion was tailored to the attendees’ relevant issuing agencies, which were LAPD, LASD, and BHPD, if I remember correctly. I must’ve misunderstood or conflated conflicting requirements.

Yeah, scary… one good reason I left the Bay Area. Alameda county DA’s were so pro criminal it’s crazy
That’s probably overstating it a a bit, but I get what you mean.

The vibe I’ve noticed from too many prosecutors is that it’s acceptable for police, prosecutors, and judges to be armed and/or have a path for legal carriage, but not okay for everyone else.

Edit: with the LEOs I know, the attitude is more mixed. Some seem very down with the concept of armed citizens who’ve been vetted and trained. Others, seem to think it’s a recipe for disaster, which is an understandable view when you deal with society at its worst all day.

I don’t know about now but that was at the peak of the BLM and defund the police movements. They had the DA trying to cut 3 year sentences for murder and she got recalled. They want prison time for gun owners though. Stole a car? Probation only.

Most cops out here are pro CCW / 2A. That’s why I don’t live in the bay or LA

LEO here. Just advise that you are ccw holder and have firearm on you. Advise where it is and you shouldn’t have a problem with most cops. No need to overthink. This is America, it’s your birthright to carry.

Minus the CHP officer that wants our guns taken away I met lol

Now, what if the officer decides to pull you out of the vehicle and wants to unholster it from you?

Under the circumstances, I would cooperate. But to suggest that there’s any likelihood at all of that actually happening is pure FUD.
Just because you've never experienced it, doesn't mean it is FUD! Those who's had it happened to them won't go around posting it. It actually happened to a good friend of mine a few years back, in Sac. Officer removed his firearm, dropped the mag, dumped all the bullets from his mag onto his passenger seat and then tossed his firearm in the rear seat, conducted his traffic stop, wrote him his ticket and said don't go for your firearm until after I leave.

Why not? Suggesting that it happens but people just don’t talk about it is textbook FUD.

By the way, I assume your good friend filed a complaint with the officer’s agency. What was the outcome of that?
Same reason my buddy doesn't go around posting it. Some ppl just don't hop onto social media announcing interactions they've had with LEO while carrying.

He did not file any complaint with the agency, so there was never any outcome from it.

Yeah weird story.. and dumping all the bullets out is a jerk move if that really happened. Would be surprised that happened in sac

Do you know about Miles Armstead’s story? It’s sad and so frustrating. It took place in Oakland. https://www.aetv.com/articles/jamal-thomas-shot-miles-armstead-2020-california
This is just another example of why we should be armed.
Sad.. and the DA at the time would have absolutely charged the homeowner if he defended himself. Idk about their new DA but back then they would go after legal gun owners hard. My old lawyer told me some horror stories like charging this grandma defending herself against gang members on her property.

Anyone know about alameda county now?

I'll speak for myself. Ancedotal? Yes. Not all LEO are like this. He's the only "bad" experience I've had. I don't blame him though.

I had CHP interaction in Imperial county. I immediately notified officer I was carrying appendix and handed him my DL and CCW card. Officer asked me to turn around with my hands on my head. He took my firearm from my holster to the back of his car, unloaded it, called for back up, then returned to search me.
After he searched me, he asked why I would need a firearm. I told him for protection. He asked why I would need protection: am I involved in anything, or am I with an agency or under cover? I said no.
He was very confused as to why I would want a firearm. He kept asking why I would need a firearm for protection.
At some point, a local sheriff stopped by. He looked at my firearm and asked how I obtained it(365 wasn't on the roster yet).I told sheriff PPT. He said it looks cool with the red dot. He asked CHP if I had CCW. He said yes it ran back clean and firearm serial was clean. Sheriff asked CHP what's the problem then? Everything is clean and legal. No reason to delay or call for back up.
CHP returned my firearm and magazine separate. Told me not to reload it until they are gone.
End story.

If anything, I think it was that CHP first time interacting with someone holding a CCW. As he drove by, he told me about a taco spot he likes to visit if I needed lunch.

I completely agree, it def was a jerk move. This all happened a while ago, I'm guessing over more than a decade when obtaining CCWs were tougher. Out of my small friend (8-9 of us) group, we used to hunt a lot and the topic of CCW came up quite often. When Sac county was starting to issue with only "self defense" he applied and was the first in our group to obtain his CCW. I reside in OC and at that time, they made the process more difficult than it was worth. Although, there was a short window when OC only required "self defense" as a good cause but they reverted back quickly. I came close to applying but didn't because of what my friend went through.

I wasn't there to witness what happened and I don't think he'd make the story up just for sh*ts-n-giggles. Now a days, with more agency issuing and possibly more run ins with permit holders, it probably doesn't happen as much (or at all).

Whether anyone wants to believe this or not, it's up to them. Make the best judgement and always follow directions from LEO when given and everything should be ok. Only reason I asked this question was because there was a video I saw few months ago where the individual was removed from his vehicle, the lady officer went to disarm him and sent a round down his leg.

How long ago did this occur? Similar experience my buddy had.

Unless he has a reason I’d bring up the situation in Florida where they recklessly disarmed a man for no reason and the dumb b%#t shot an innocent man taking his gun out of the holster. She lost her job and the whole department changed their policy about disarming people at traffic stops and the shot citizen sued the police department and the whole city. It’s dangerous and wreck-less unless there is a reason the person is a threat to disarm them.
