I wouldn’t reach for anything before they ask because they can see movement through the glass unless you have limo tint. I’ve been pulled over, reached for registration immediately and by the time the officer was at my window, his pistol was out and i was getting yelled at lol No guns in the car, no alcohol, no drugs, nada

That's cause you look hella sus. Yeah don't get out reg and ID, I've been pulled over and they never even checked my reg or insurance. When you're a handsome white boi like me you get the here's your warning jk

lower ALL your windows front & rear and if dark turn on the dome lights, turn your car off.
keep your left hand with the permit & DL on your door window and your right hand visible on your steering wheel.

while you hand him your documents say " Hi I am legally armed here is my permit my firearm is in (state location) how would you gentlemen like to proceed?""

I was always told hands on steering wheel. You don't go reaching for ID and wallet while the officer is walking up to the vehicle. If they see someone moving around it makes the situation more tense

Yeah... a couple times. It's been over many years--not like I'm getting pulled over all the time. I hand over my driver's license and CCW permit. As I'm doing so, I inform the cop that the Orange County Sheriff requires that I give him that. They've always asked if I was carrying, and then where the gun is. And then that's the end of it. It's no big deal. Don't yell about how you pay their wages, and don't call the lady officers "Sugar T**s." It didn't work for Mel Gibson, and it probably won't work for you.

Don’t act like you’re doing anything wrong by carrying with a CCW permit, because you’re not. Hand the officer your CCW permit along with your driver’s license, and say, “I have a CCW license” (since you’re IA probably requires you to inform any LEO you have contact with). The officer will probably ask if you’re carrying now, and just answer truthfully, like, “yes, it’s inside my waistband at 3:00.” The first time I was pulled over, the officer said, “Okay, don’t show me yours, and I won’t show you mine.” The second time the officer didn’t say anything about it, and just wrote me a ticket. Both times, they looked at the information on my CCW permit and then handed it back to me. And that was that.

One other aspect to think of:
Depending on your IA, they might want you to inform your IA if you've had LEO interaction. Best to clarify with them(your IA) what is required.

Some of the big departments like sac county sheriff and LAPD have the requirement, but by percentage of all the agencies in the state I only know of a handful

He asked for my CCW and I gave it to him and my AZ one as they are both blue so why not hand both?( Im obviously vetted I figured) He asked why I was nervous and I told him I’m not nervous? I asked if he was nervous? (I was not even in the slightest) I had my girls in car seats in the back. I calmly told him I’m more comfortable with people with guns than people who are not. I then told him I was taking my girls to bible school which I was (VBS ) and that was it.

He was way jumpier than he should have been but he let me go on my way no ticket or nothing. I think he intended to pull me over for a fishing mission but who knows. Maybe he didn’t like that I was armed or that I had my kids there, IDK but I handled the situation as professional as I could and doing what I felt I would want to be put at ease pulling over a stranger who was armed and licensed.

Good experience anyway to tell my students anyway I figured.

You get pulled over, you simply say "I want to inform you I have a Concealed Carry Permit and I am currently carrying my weapon" (then inform the officer exactly where on your body or car your weapon is) at that point the officer will probably say, "if you dont reach for yours I wont reach for mine" or they'll simply place it in your trunk for the time being. Completely non issue

Counties WITH an Immediate Duty to Inform
If your CCW was issued by one of these Sheriffs, their standard licensing terms mandate that you immediately and affirmatively disclose that you have a permit and whether you are carrying a weapon the moment an officer contacts you:

• Sacramento County
• Orange County
• San Joaquin County
• Santa Clara County
• San Diego County
• Contra Costa County
• San Francisco County
• Tulare County
• Solano County
• Stanislaus County
• Ventura County

Counties WITHOUT an Immediate Duty to Inform
These Sheriffs do not place a blanket "immediate disclosure" restriction on their standard permits. In these jurisdictions, you only need to show your permit or state you are armed if the officer explicitly asks you:

• Riverside County
• Los Angeles County
• San Bernardino County (Requires a 10-day notification after a stop, but not immediate disclosure at the window)
• Fresno County
• Kern County
• El Dorado County
• Placer County

A concern is the specific city, municipalities, PD's within counties that may have their own unique requirements.

Personally I would inform on contact regardless.

Well you could have said in some states and country’s they think neither should you. (Obviously that would have pushed her buttons but it’s true) I definitely would have been thinking it though.

Yikes. Dealing with a cop with that attitude would make me nervous, as they clearly see us not as good guys, but as potential threats to herself and her colleagues and therefore, bad guys.

In my experience, a majority of deputy district attorneys share that exact opinion.
