Finally moved out of CA to a free(er) state

Great post, thought describing technology as being "blessed" is an odd word choice. Gotta love Starlink!

I could work anywhere I want as well since my job is remote. My girlfriend still has family here but at some point I'll sell this CA real estate, make a huge payment or pay off something in a less populous free state, and enjoy four seasons, fewer deranged ideologues, and a place where I can bring home a gun the same day I buy it along with standard mags and a suppressor.

Only 4 more years until retirement here...

Thing about flagstaff is it’s pretty expensive. You can find something on the outskirts though. But does have great weather in summer.

I was in Flagstaff two summers ago. Mid 90's, felt like the desert.

I have property in AZ, serves well as rental income.
What bothers me most is the over-populated condition in SoCal.
Everywhere you go, people, traffic, congestion.
I may move out of CA some day, but guns wouldn't be my first motivator.

As someone that deals with mild tinnitus, I'm extremely jealous of those suppressors. Even doubling up on hearing protection isn't enough sometimes.

It's no better in Northern California if that makes you feel any better (not LA bad, but getting there). The more lanes they open the more people move farther away and commute in making the traffic go right back to what it was before.

Don't get me started on the Fastrak lanes that can cost $20+ for 10-15 miles of driving each way.

I am glad we agree on something.
I am an immigrant of German descent. West-Germany. I jumped all the pricey hoops to get here.
I've seen plenty, ask me anything.
I managed to realize my childhood dream to live my life in America.
I would have taken Texas as a home, but my wife from way back when, wanted to be in CA.
I don't regret it. But, in the 30 years I live here, it's been an uphill battle. Can't get ahead.
I am my girlfriend's caregiver, we live 90 minutes North of downtown LA, a fabulous beach town.
Luckily I do not drive much at this point.

I should also say, I find it abhorrent having to deal with this handgun roster. I am very partial about older S&W revolvers.
Can't buy them from out-of-state just because they are off the roster.
The excise tax is disgusting, to say it mildly. I am in the process of getting my assortment of firearms in order and stop buying from gun stores.

I had a good friend, many years ago. He moved from LA County to some place in New Mexico, between Santa Fe and Taos.
He came to visit a few times, saying it's a culture shock, every time he does.

I assure you we have Fastrak lanes up here and they are very expensive during rush hour. I lived in socal for a long time and moved up to norcal almost two decades ago. I prefer the climate, food, and outdoor options here. Doesn't hurt that all of the high paying tech company offices are up here either

San Francisco is more European. A lot of the suburban areas in the East Bay and South Bay feel like a slightly colder version of Orange County to me

I've been up there only once or twice. In my teenage R n R years I picked up anything I could read on Haight-Ashbury, Timothy Leary etc.

Even after the hippies were driven out of CA, Hunter S. Thompson ran for Sheriff in Aspen

Yeah, being the character Thompson was, his noteworthy quote on why he loved to live somewhere in the Mountains in CO:
I'm paraphrasing: you get out onto your front porch in the morning, one hand your cup of coffee, with the other, you fire your .44Mag into the open and nobody will ever come around or even bother. I guess, he wasn't talking about any of those suppressors.
