In the last 2+ months the CA DOJ has approved 11 handgun models for addition to the roster: https://www.oag.ca.gov/firearms/certified-handguns/recently-added
Four of those approvals are merely different colors of a pistol already on the roster (the Walther PDP. Awesome pistol... I'm pretty sure it functions the same whatever color one chooses).
And yet I keep hearing there are several firearms companies (Kimber for example with the 2k11) are eager to have their product "blessed" for sale in the State.
Some simple math, from a simple person. Let's say Joe DOJ rolls into the office 'round.... 9:30. After a nice cup of coffee and banter with office mates they wander into the lab, and drop test a firearm. Then it's time for lunch. After a hasty 2 hour lunch they spend an hour and a half writing up the results for that sole drop test... Then knock off to the local bar.
That gives a pistol a day for approval. I know, I'm a slave driver. But that math yields 5 approvals a week, or (5 * 4) = 20 pistol approvals a month.
Let's say the manager at DOJ isn't such a slave driver. Half that output still yields 10 pistols a month. Right now we're averaging less than 5 approvals a month.
I appreciate the NRA, CRPA, and others are busy fighting the good fight on (too) many fronts. I suppose my primary purpose in this post is to simply vent. One tries to be patient. To give grace for slight after slight delivered by those who are supposed to serve, for cravenly selfish political gain.
Eventually there reaches a threshold where one begins to seriously contemplate voting with their feet, to move to a Free State - and taking the sales and income tax revenue with them.
I know I'm not solving anything here, no novel solutions to offer. Just a frustrated rant.
Thanks for listening.
