CCW while on probation?

you know what. you’re saving all of us a ton of time right out of the gate. Thank you, saves everyone time later when you ask you next dumb question that is answered in a way you don’t like.
damn you guys suck 😂 just looking for help i wasn’t being hostile or anything but thanks bud
“Disqualifying” is a fairly subjective term, but I think you’d have a stronger argument if your crime was of the “malum prohibitum” variety. Unfortunately, the crime you were convicted of was “malum in se,” with an actual victim involved. It’s tough to convince an issuing authority that victimizing someone like that isn’t disqualifying just because it doesn’t involve violence, etc. I’m not judging here; I’m just telling you the way I think it is. Good luck to you.
thank you, that gives me more perspective!

California permits are difficult to get and easy to loose. I have friends who’ve lost them for speeding tickets. Ultimately, it’s up to Alameda County and based on all information provided in your application. Getting a conviction during the application process doesn’t help.
A regular speeding ticket? There must be more to it than that. Was it reckless or a lot of tickets?

Please don’t take it like i’m being defensive or saying you are all wrong i’m just trying to understand and feel sure so that I know I’m not waiting a year for no reason yk…
I totally get where you're trying to rationalize it, but we're all a bit cynical here because experience showed us the county doesn't really want CCW's. Wait it out and try again later, its' still fresh...

If you exercise candor and illustrate your situation directly I don’t see why they would deny you.

I can speak from experience when I say even defined prohibitions can be excused by the IA.

I say go for it but don’t be upset if they deny. They can still deny for lack of good moral character and it’s up to the IA to make that decision. No statute is in place, it’s just per IA policy, and some of those policies are internal.

they probably didn’t mention it to the agency or were going over 100 something crazy

last question, if i said F- it and move forward with interview now and get declined you think it would make it any harder to try again in a year or whatever?

When I went to my interview with LAPD they told me it’s 70/30 I get denied. If they were going to move forward with denial they would call me and tell me to withdraw the application first, to avoid a formal denial.

Think about it from the agency, you have a fresh crime where you stole someone's identity, you aren't even off probation yet and now you want to carry a loaded gun around in public. I think Sac Sheriff considers all crimes in the last 5 or 7 years or something like that. I could be wrong.

Why are you stealing people's identities?

hey i’m just trying to play it by the book, yall act like the president isn’t a felon

I took a plea to identity theft… i didn’t actually steal someone’s identity, i picked up a package from fedex that was under someone else’s name not knowing it was a fraudulent package but didn’t have the time or money to take it to trial and chose a misdemeanor plea instead of fighting 3 felony’s it’s not like i took someone’s social security or something
bull💩.

also the dip💩 in the white house has no bearing on you carrying a gun.

Lol..... that story doesn't make sense sorry bro. You just "accidentally picked up a fraudulent package" in someone else's name? What's the true story

"Yes, identity theft is generally considered a Crime of Moral Turpitude (CIMT) under U.S. immigration and professional licensing law because it involves fraud, deceit, and dishonesty. [1, 2, 3]

Overview of Identity Theft as a CIMT
    • Fraud and Deception: A Crime Involving Moral Turpitude is an act that goes against community standards of honesty or morality. Because identity theft relies on trickery, misrepresentation, or stealing personal data for unlawful use, authorities usually classify it here. [1, 2]
    • Immigration Consequences: For non-citizens, a CIMT conviction can trigger serious penalties. It may lead to deportation, make a person inadmissible to the United States, or block them from proving "good moral character" for citizenship. [1, 2]
    • Professional Licensing: Convictions for moral turpitude crimes can disqualify individuals from holding state-issued professional licenses, such as nursing or contractor licenses"

So yeah that charge is going to hurt you. I also had a misdemeanor for poss of AW, however I don't think they really cared. It was over 7 years ago, and it's a made up crime to begin with, they didn't even ask me much about it.

You aren't the President.. Lol..

Honestly, it's going to be up to the person interviewing you and who reviews your file. I see you're honestly asking but some people are obviously more blunt. Lol Don't take it too hard man. Whatever you end up doing, let us know. We see these kind of questions pop up from time to time. It's good for others who are in similar situations to research. Good luck to you. I would be surprised if they did.

P.S. Don't be picking up other peoples 💩... How did you even get caught?

Even if you magically convinced everyone here that you didn’t do what you pled to, the final say is with your issuing agency. I don’t see much point in going back and forth with strangers on the internet about what specific statute you would be disqualified under, or if you technically committed fraud or not.

Bottom line is, it’s your money and time, so do what you think is worth it based on what you have. And right now, the overwhelming majority of comments is telling you it’ll be an uphill battle at best.

I personally think you should strongly consider Ikeo’s comment about a denial likely making future applications harder to get approved.
