Bonta Finds Firearm Microstamping Technology Viable - Wasting our tax dollars

"And before you touch on mental health, it's clearly obvious that the US doesn't care enough about mental to pay for the services that MIGHT intercept some of these issues. We are happy to put hundreds of billions of dollars into overseas genocides but will likely never provide healthcare for our population because.... socialism".

And yet if we're being serious about preventing mass shootings, mental health is one key determinant. How many times do we need to hear that the shooter was under treatment for depression/suicide; known to have mental health issues; released from the military due to mental fitness; etc.

Cynically, 2A Gun Rights/Gun Control gives the politicians talking points that both sides would lose if they actually tried to address the issues (mental health, people already prohibited from owning firearms, disaffected youth).

The point is, in our modern era, the legislating and enforcement of laws is neither logical or fair in America, it is driven almost 100% by emotion and public opinion. Public opinion, sadly, is driven by demagoguing talking heads, by 10 second news bites and a very heavily polluted and manipulated social media.

Bringing this back directly to firearm legislation, politicians don't give a rat's ass about ad hoc murders and shootings of one two or three people, they also don't give a 💩 about internal gang violence, their attitude is: "fine, let them kill each other off". What is driving the gun laws are massacres at schools, churches, synagogues, community centers, concerts (Vegas), etc. and they don't have to happen in California for their constituents to demand action.

You can motherless 🐐 all you want about the firearm legislation but, until you come up with a practical, implementable way to prevent the massacres which cause massive public outrage, your motherless 🐐ing is going to fall on deaf ears UNLESS you come up with something that scares the politicians more than public outrage.

You can talk all you want about gangs and repeat offenders but, those are not the perpetrators of the massacres that grab the public's attention. Get rid of the massacres of school children, etc. and the firearm legislation will settle down.

You might or might not admit it but, with everyone having access to weapons capable of high volumes of accurate fire AND the perps of most massacres not being on the law enforcement radar, it's almost impossible to prevent the massacres. And before you touch on mental health, it's clearly obvious that the US doesn't care enough about mental to pay for the services that MIGHT intercept some of these issues. We are happy to put hundreds of billions of dollars into overseas genocides but will likely never provide healthcare for our population because.... socialism.
At this point I blame myself. I should know that we could be talking about the merits of twinkies vs ho hos and you would still find a way to bring up the military complex, US funded "Genocides," 🥔s, etc.

I start reading posts and try to put myself in the posters point of view, but you always go back to the same talking points no matter what topic we are on and, well, I'm just done. I'm going to refrain from commenting on your posts because eventually it always ends the same with your same remarks. That's not debating, that's propaganda.

Btw, your last post was not bad, but of course you had to ruin it by your talking points/ buzz words.

For the love of Mike, I honestly don't give a 💩 whether you comment or not and I'm sorry if you can't look at these issues holistically.

Discussing societal problems is not a slice and dice proposition. One must follow the clues, whether they lead to fascism or to Oz. Be honest, you always blame everything on the demonic California politicians so, you have a comfy little rhetoric harbor, don't you?

Mental health is the third rail of politics and the second amendment.

It's like Pamela Anderson's IQ.... it just doesn't matter! The number of microstamped firearms vs. the ones without it are so minute it's not even funny. The powers that be don't care about solving crimes... they care about stopping gun sales for the general public. Oh, there'll be carve outs for police and others in government to get it to pass, but the reality is they don't give a rat's a$$ if the technology works or if it solves crimes.

You are thinking too near term. Whereas a change like this, in let's say 2030, might represent a miniscule percentage of sidearms in the state; by 2053 or 2078, if our nation and our 2nd amendment still even exist, the percentage of microstamped sidearms in this state will likely far exceed the number of functional, non-microstamped sidearms. Of course that assumes that microstamping even becomes a thing, which is a significant question.

God forbid If this ever became law, and you had to retrofit any previous owned gun, new etc. I would just hope that they would let you personalize # like on CA License Plates.

“F*ck you Newsom” or “Bonta”. I’m good with either. Would be hilarious if the news ever did a piece on this and you were like, “Yeah, I paid for the personalized micro stamp #, it says…”

Just wait until they mandate tamper-proof digital cameras in all firearms that upload imagery and audio every time a round is fired. That technology is not far off.

Well, considering how persuasive you appear to be, I urge to you communicate with Bonta which is something I wager you have never tried to do. I understand that he is very good about answering letters as is Newsom. My wife and I wrote to the Governor and he responded personally, addressing each point we raised in our letter. It's really easy to demonize people you have never personally communicated with.

So you got a letter back from him you say? That autopen is an amazing tool. Sorry to disappoint but some staffer wrote it likely. 🤓

Currently there are almost 400 million guns in the US, with 15 million added per year for the entire country. California accounts for roughly 1 million of the new gun purchases. If you incorporate microstamping for California, using simple math, there's no way the numbers become feasible for any form of tracking.

Not about safety, just another hurdle to try and dissuade manufacturers from selling in California.

It’s going to get to a point where all firearms in California will have to have a Credit Card chip reader installed, so you cannot pull trigger until a California tax was applied and one million insurance policy purchased for one hour of use in case of accident at range or self defense situation. Non-refundable, it would start at $1 then $5, before you know it $500 everytime you want to shoot your gun regardless of reason, plus the 75% tax by then.

Could you imagine that, I laugh, but…

California’s way, if they can’t make you think or do what they want, they’ll price you out.

Long-term thinking used to be the approach, but a few things happened. First, smart people found legal ways around most laws to obtain something close to what was banned; think OLL and SSE. Second, many federal laws expired because there was not the political will, or votes, to pass something like a permeant AW ban. Third, in many cases the people writing and amending the legislation were not knowledgeable enough to write solid, enforceable laws. California has wasted decades trying to implement a de facto gun ban, but have only created a monster appetite for the very firearms they want to ban. Most politicians are of a generation that expects instant gratification, and thus instant gun control. Their cute attempts at gun control reflect their desire to disarm their serfs now, which thus far have been thwarted by the courts.

Just saw another video on this, basically no PPT or buying new guns without microstamp as of 2028. This in essence stops all gun sales in california. I feel like the supreme court isnt taking cases properly and so when this comes through it could be a decade or two if its ever undone. This is wild.

What a waste of our tax dollars! After not 1 but 2 federal judges have ruled against microstamping post-Bruen (and more in the past) in 2023, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 452, authored by Senator Catherine Blakespear (D-Encinitas), which amended California’s Unsafe Handgun Act and added separate Penal Code provisions that adopted new requirements concerning microstamping. DOJ Press Release

Isn't this grounds for disbarring Bonta; advising your client to violate federal law?
IANAL but I remain convinced that the only way to "correct" Bonta, Newsom, et al is to charge them criminally with/Deprivation Under Color of Authority (18 USC 242) and to sue the State for same.
