I have never seen good ammo prices at a California lgs. Only ever "holy what are you people smoking" prices. Doesn't help that I look for obsolete milsurp calibers but I've seen 100%-200% mark ups over online prices on them.

There is a range by me and the cheapest 9mm they have to sell you to shoot there is 25$ a box of 50 and it's magtech. Like, what the f? That has to be 5 times what they are paying for it, it's 11 bucks a box online.

Palmetto is changing course. They private messaged me and said they will be shipping to CA as long as it's still legal for them to do so.

They are probably realizing how much money they’re missing out on. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of rounds are flowing into the state right now. It happened during Freedom Week, too. Some places held out on shipping magazines for several days until they realized that every online retailer that was shipping was literally selling out their entire inventories.

I will always support the places that shipped right away and never raised their prices to profit further from the Freedom Week demand. Most of those places viewed it as providing a service to the 2A community. Even gun owners across the country were posting online to not buy magazines for awhile so that more could be available to ship to California. And then some places, like Brownells for instance, continued to ship well after the stay was put into place, as long as the order was placed before Freedom Week came to an end. Most gun owners and gun retailers mean it when they say they support the 2nd Amendment and the right to keep and bear arms. Those gun owners will always have my respect and appreciation, and those gun retailers will always have my business.

I would not put it past the CADOJ to go after the recipients of mail order ammunition in CA. Then come down hard on them, just to make an example. When dealing with anti gun , we have to assume the worst.

I'm not an attorney and just reading what the CRPA lawyers were posting and they did not think the stay was lifted. As a CA dealer it will be near impossible to compete with online vendors not having to charge excise but normally they are quick to let us know backgrounds don't need to be ran anymore.
