CCW Alameda County

It's easy. You can only apply when you are less than 60 days from expiration. Just take the 8 hour requal course close to your 60 days then renew via the Permitium portal and upload your training certificate and other docs.
Thank you for the info!

May I ask a few more questions?

If I want to change up the guns on my permit I’m assuming I have to pay that $30 admin fee before doing the training, yes?
Also does the requal course need to be within that 60 days or can it be earlier than that?

Not sure what the $30 admin fee is? I would use the requal as the chance to change the guns on your permit. Just qualify with the 3 guns you want then send in the certificate when you fill out the renewal app online. I've heard of some training vendors charging per gun, but that wasn't the case with mine.

My requal course was after the 60 days, so I am not sure. They want you to have the requal done before you submit your renewal app, so I would assume taking it before the 60 days is fine? You can always email and ask, did you get the email from the new person who took over the process?

Just got the email to schedule pickup of my renewed permit. So 49 days from submitting to pickup, not horrible.

Are you using off rosters? I've been hearing that acso is telling people off rosters are no longer allowed. Friend of mine asked in person and the sheriff in charge of CCW confirmed it verbally. I don't see it on any policies written or know of anyone rejected because of off rosters. My renewal is coming up, so will need to re qualify soon, with off roster.

Where did you guys go to do the live scan? Just got my email to do live scan so looking around.

I did mine at UPS.
Not all of the store offer live scan but a quick google search will tell you which ones near you offer it.

I’m currently about to schedule my phsyc evaluation. Do you guys know if I’m supposed to put the email or number of the ccw unit for the agency contact section? Or em I supposed to put the name.

Good question - I wanted to ad an off-roster to my CCW when I renew, so this is relevant for me also.

I submitted my renewal with same 3 as my initial application. 1 is off roster. It's been almost a month. I'll update when status changes.

I don't see the policy written anywhere that it's not allowed, besides the sheriff's department telling people that won't be. So we'll see.

I’m taking part 1 of the course tomorrow with Bay Area Tactical at the San Leandro range.
I attached 2 documents, both the shooting test and BAT’s course flow in case anyone was interested.
Would you mind saying how many hours is each part? Im now at the picking spot to train was going to go with Leo defensive concepts but the are booked until January which is too long of a wait.

After you guys submitted your 16 hour certificate to the sheriff, how long afterwards did she contact you guys to pick up the permit?

About 2 weeks before expiration, to schedule pickup
Gotcha do you know how long it takes to get contacted after first submitting the certificate for the very first time? I’m not renewing it’s my first time ever getting the permit. I submitted the certificate on 12-7-25 still waiting for email to get contacted to pick up permit.
