ACSO still shows me still sitting in assigning to processor (but applied beg Jan 2024). Odd that some PD's don't require a pysch spiel, lucky you guys, saved yourself $4xx !!

Crazy to think I’m going to need to wait 1.5 years more than likely to even get a response from ACSO.
 
Applied Aug 2023, still waiting.

Last July they stated they were working on applications from Mid Feb and March of 2023.

Would think I would hear from them soon…..

Turns out my calculations of when I would be contacted where correct within a few weeks.

Was contacted to proceed with Live Scan. From those that went through it, how long is this step before I contacted for an interview?

It took me about 3 months after performing the live scan to receiving my ccw permit, in 2023. Estimate about a month per step is normal.
 
A month per step is what I anticipated, well, 3 more months I guess making total time application to permit takes 2 years. Ridiculous

Starting March 1, 2024, ACSO will cease processing CCWs for municipalities in Alameda County. Applicants should now apply or renew their CCW license with their local law enforcement agency. Current local agencies who have announced this are below.

Recent update I received from ACSO. Whoever was issued a CCW from ACSO, we can choose to renew through the ACSO and avoid paying for another psych eval. And avoid basically going through the entire process through our local PD. Please share.

ANNOUNCEMENT:



The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office will renew the Concealed Carry Weapon Licenses that we issued.



Recently, we have delegated this licensure to the local agencies/city police departments. They are our teammates who will issue INITIAL licenses. However, in order to avoid lapses in your licenses during transition, ACSO can and will renew licenses we have issued over the years. 6 weeks before the expiration of your license, you will be sent a notification about the renewal requirements. Unfortunately, you cannot be proactive too early as the application website and our workflow will not allow you to do so.

*If your CCW license was originally issued by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office you can elect to renew the license through the Alameda County Sheriff's Office or you can elect to renew the license through the police department of your city of residence.*
 
After 17 months, things moving forward. Notified 1/28 to complete Livescan and interview with Alameda County on March 6.

Next step is Psych Evaluation. Anyone know the the current timeline on Psych process and can you divulge any info on what to expect?
 
9/6/2023 I applied for my CCW with Alameda County, just got the email to do the live scan about a half hour ago. I am in an unincorporated area, so I will be proceeding through the county.
 
Just had my interview at the Alameda County Sheriff.

The interview is more of a formality since they already have your background via the Livescan process. The interview consisted of asking the questions already answered in the application, such as have you been convicted of etc.

No questions about home, gun storage, gun possessed etc. however I was surprised to be asked why I wanted a permit.

The interviewer mentioned they have a 3000 application backlog and retired people have been brought back to work on processing applications.

It took me 17 months to get the interview stage, and I was told it will now go faster and take about another 2 months to complete the process.

The interviewer mentioned that renewals can either me done by the County or through my local city and the process is much faster for renewals. This is good news I assume and hope it helps others.
 
This morning the Sheriff interviewed me and I have my Sheriff interview next Wednesday (earliest date they had).

I did my Livescan last Thursday.
 
My wife and I were issued ours in early May last year. We applied September 1st, 2022. All told, it took us almost 20 months (17 months until we were even told we were moving forward). Total cost was about $800 each.

All that for a Constitutional Right.
 
has anyone here applied with a driver's license with a non-alameda county address? contemplating applying while i am waiting for my new driver's license to come in the mail (have all other required proofs of residency) but also suspect they will deny my application and keep my fee.
 
Today I did the Sheriff office interview. Went fine, I was actually NOT asked why I wanted to carry. Did also re-confirm that we can have 3 guns on the permit.
 
Just got the email to schedule my psych appointment. Earliest time was 4 weeks away which is annoying.

Very true! I guess I am just a bit annoyed because I had been in-between jobs for a year. I start a new job the week before my appointment. I am like, "I HAD A YEAR WHERE I HAD ALLLLL THE FREE TIME TO GET THIS DONE!" lol.
