Word is AB1333 has been withdrawn (3/13/2025)

Only because the blockhead who tried to introduce it got so much backlash from both sides. It'll come back with different wording in, oh probably about 3 months once everything has cooled off, nothing anti gun in this state actually dies, it just gets re worded and reborn.

Democrats.
This kind of crap is why it is impossible to separate politics from gun ownership and use. The tentacles of regulation have burrowed deep down to all aspects, and there is one party responsible for the vast majority of it.
Democrats.

The is what happens with gun control, you give an inch and the liberals will take a mile. I agree with the poster above. To keep the hobby, 2a, whatever you call it separate is not possible. The 2a is a right to bear arms, and shall not be infringed. You let them do registries, background checks, red flag laws, the stupid sin tax, and the next thing you know they do sb2 and now this. They do not care about you or your family, they want control.

I didn't vote republican because I wanted to. The democrats forced my vote many decades ago.

In a Democrat led city was he forced to abandon this? You see how this changed from AB1333 to a bunch of comments talking about Democrats now instead of the actual bill?

This is what I see as the problem with modern politics. Rather than celebrate that democrats and republicans a.k.a people, pressured him to abandon it. If it doesn’t come back you’ll still blame democrats even if it didn’t go through and was rejected.

I see a shift in political structure. Democrats and Republicans want change. Not the extreme changes we see at each end. Extremes are bad. Do you think these posts encourage people to switch parties or does it cause people to stand their ground? AB1333 wasn’t put down by the opposing party. It’s by people both democrats and republicans. There's pushback with newsom too. We need someone different.

This post though went straight to blame rather than acknowledging it got stopped by everyone.

IMO and my goal, getting more people trained and on the range changes peoples perspectives on guns. When people see reasonable & responsible owners, their stereotype is challenged. The more people who become less afraid the more overall support we get for 2A.

The thing is we can all agree the bill is unconstitutional so there's not much to discuss about it imo other than the ramifications on us law abiding folk. Eventually the discussion then turns to how we can prevent such bills from coming to light in the first place and the only way to do that it seems is to vote for team red.

I think this is a major issue with our modern politics tbh. Too many polarizing issues that should just be downright common sense are split between our two party system. Thus people are forced to vote for the side where their own morals/beliefs more strongly align. It's divide and conquer. We're so preoccupied arguing amongst each other whilst those are in power are all laughing at us behind closed doors.

For example my family is Christian Iraqi and I'm sure I don't need to explain to you guys why the 2A is so important to me. However even though I might agree with other democratic policies, say for example national healthcare, I feel almost forced to vote republican in order to ensure we don't lose anymore of our 2A rights.

Thank you for pointing out that these things inevitably degenerate into 'this' party is to blame while 'that' party is blameless. Or fail to acknowledge that there are people in both parties that have things in common, instead jumping to the extreme end all the time.

Did it get stopped by both sides though? We don't know that definitively. The vast majority of Dems love to infringe on the 2a, they salivate at things like this, just look at Colorado, Washington, New York, Massa, Maine, Hawaii, Oregon or Illinois if you need an example. That's a very bold statement to make without actually seeing a breakdown of people who called/emailed/whatever and what party they're affiliated with.

You're generalizing very hard. Someone like you see's the extreme side of things. Let me ask you, is your solution to brute force people by calling them idiots on a single voter issue to become a Republican and vote red?

Do you think if it was only Republicans in a Democratic City/State that would cause the abandonment in California? It's more bold to assume ONLY Republicans caused the abandonment. What I'm saying it takes both to persuade an official to abandon a bill.

There are segments in the two party system since we only have a two party system. You make it either/or without considering transition. I tend to focus on transition.

In 2024, 1.4 million sold in CA alone. The average is 1-1.5million/calendar year. Do you believe all of them are Republican every year? I tend to think of buyers as a mix of people. I can argue if we don't know then why are you so sure its only Republicans and blaming Democrats from across the nation?

Look at California, even with gun laws as strict as they are. California is still one of the largest purchasers of firearms with only two states ahead of it in terms of purchases and activity. You discount the 4-6 million additional gun owners in the last 5 years.

Rand a national think tank.

Anecdotally, you'll have noticed a lot of people on CGN no longer live in California because of 2A laws, so how is there enough pressure for ONLY Republicans to stop the bill. Personally, I'm one of the people that changed my perspective and created this site since the other one was falling apart. Before 2020, the last time I shot my gun was in 2012. The last time the whole Obama is coming for your guns scare, if you remember that.

Now, I convince people all the time to change their stance on firearms as an instructor, site owner, volunteer, etc. What method do you think works in convincing people that 2A is good for people? Blaming them or Educating them?

If you look at the stats, you'll see a picture that gun ownership is not 100% Republican 0% Democrat. I invite you to research what it is in California and tell us what the breakout is when you've found it.

What I try to do is bring back the sporting aspect of it to neutralize the "scary" aspect of it. Train people on the "defensive" side of it.

You'll likely call me a Democrat because of this even though I'm not. I just believe in common sense. Against stupid 💩 the left and the right does. I see the hypocrisy of both parties but both parties put me in the others camp. Whatever. To Liberals I'm a conservative. To conservatives I'm a Democrat. Tf does it matter on the range? I thought 2A was an American citizen thing.

One more thing.. Reddit, the 🍌 soy latte DEI LGBTQ+ whatever tf some people like to call it these days has action calls. You can see clearly there's more activity than on Calguns the self proclaimed conservative sanctuary. There are a lot of PO'ed people in California for a variety of reasons. It's better to organize and join together than it is to label one another.

You’r darn right it went straight to blame. It’s call accountability. You say Democrats want change. Change in anything but their endless quest to enact civilian disarmament…when have you heard an elected California democrat politician calling for repeal of any of their draconian gun laws (and by that I mean ALL gun laws)? It got stopped because even his fellow democrats saw that it was so outlandish that even more dem votes could be lost the next time around. It’s all calculated. Had Harris won the WH office, it would have kept moving.
As to Republicans, they aren’t the saints that some claim, and I call them out on it. Look at who signed Roberti-Roos…a Republican. Look at who blessed the California ban on .50BMG weapons…yep, a Republican. However, look at who (party) introduces nearly all anti-gun measures: Democrats. That is a fact. There is no appeasing them.

What does that tell you if the person that stopped it was also a Democrat? Labels do nothing but alienate people. The accountability is for what, it was abandoned. That's typically a positive act and should be acknowledged by both Democrats and Republicans. More gets accomplished that way. The current style of my way only.

What do you hope to gain or what is the goal of calling out people who aren't part of that accountability on a forum vs. acknowledging the collaboration and advancement or in this case abandonment of a bad bill we all didn't agree on. Public pressure is not Dem or Rep, it should be both. We have a platform actually two platforms that can help push that, if you know how to leverage it.

The question is are you interested in making a change or more interested in telling people what's wrong with them.

You left out spending, spend, spend, spend like there's unlimited money. (I refer to both sides. Like ikeo, I don't care much for the political label- I support good ideas.)

This is the crux of what this site is for. I only help out because times are changing and the goal was to have a platform where we could discuss things rationally and also when there's more of you, we can adjust things faster because good ideas come from a bigger more diverse pool. Some people don't like what we end up going with but you can't make everyone happy.

We generally prefer level headed people vs heated and good discourse. :)

The wording will be amended so the protected class will not need to follow the law, only us peons. Then the bill will pass.

Just like all other infringing bills that is only enforceable on us common citizens, but not those selected citizens. Hi-Cap ban, safe handgun registry, 10-days wait, ex-1in30, etc.
