Did it get stopped by both sides though? We don't know that definitively. The vast majority of Dems love to infringe on the 2a, they salivate at things like this, just look at Colorado, Washington, New York, Massa, Maine, Hawaii, Oregon or Illinois if you need an example. That's a very bold statement to make without actually seeing a breakdown of people who called/emailed/whatever and what party they're affiliated with.
You're generalizing very hard. Someone like you see's the extreme side of things. Let me ask you, is your solution to brute force people by calling them idiots on a single voter issue to become a Republican and vote red?
Do you think if it was only Republicans in a Democratic City/State that would cause the abandonment in California? It's more bold to assume ONLY Republicans caused the abandonment. What I'm saying it takes both to persuade an official to abandon a bill.
There are segments in the two party system since we only have a two party system. You make it either/or without considering transition. I tend to focus on transition.
In 2024, 1.4 million sold in CA alone. The average is 1-1.5million/calendar year. Do you believe all of them are Republican every year? I tend to think of buyers as a mix of people. I can argue if we don't know then why are you so sure its only Republicans and blaming Democrats from across the nation?
Look at California, even with gun laws as strict as they are. California is still one of the largest purchasers of firearms with only two states ahead of it in terms of purchases and activity. You discount the 4-6 million additional gun owners in the last 5 years.
Statistics represent the number of state-by-state firearms background checks initiated through the NICS from November 1998 to July 31, 2026.

Rand a national think tank.
Anecdotally, you'll have noticed a lot of people on CGN no longer live in California because of 2A laws, so how is there enough pressure for ONLY Republicans to stop the bill. Personally, I'm one of the people that changed my perspective and created this site since the other one was falling apart. Before 2020, the last time I shot my gun was in 2012. The last time the whole Obama is coming for your guns scare, if you remember that.
Now, I convince people all the time to change their stance on firearms as an instructor, site owner, volunteer, etc. What method do you think works in convincing people that 2A is good for people? Blaming them or Educating them?
If you look at the stats, you'll see a picture that gun ownership is not 100% Republican 0% Democrat. I invite you to research what it is in California and tell us what the breakout is when you've found it.
What I try to do is bring back the sporting aspect of it to neutralize the "scary" aspect of it. Train people on the "defensive" side of it.
You'll likely call me a Democrat because of this even though I'm not. I just believe in common sense. Against stupid

the left and the right does. I see the hypocrisy of both parties but both parties put me in the others camp. Whatever. To Liberals I'm a conservative. To conservatives I'm a Democrat. Tf does it matter on the range? I thought 2A was an American citizen thing.
