Why I don't frick with mag locks

FNGR mag lock. Takes 5 seconds to go from the manual of arms Stoner intended to CA fixed mag. Zero exterior clues if it is in fixed mag or standard configuration. Zero complicated parts to induce a malfunction.

The AW registry opens up for the current feature or law they are trying to change or ban. For example, they opened up the registry so you can register your new "Assault Weapon" with the bullet button. It doesn't necessarily mean the AW registry opens up and you can register whatever you want lol.

A bullet buttoned AW isn't exactly an ideal AW either nor it is a raw "RAW" lol. I'd take a maglock + Kingpin any day over my registered bullet button AW. Soon California will try to ban AR15s again as they did with the bullet button by banning your featureless parts like putting a kydex wrap around your pistol grip and enforce no threads on your barrel, and they'll open up the AW registry all over again for you to register your new "AW" with the pistol grip wrap and threaded barrel which will become a "RAW".
I have AW’s registered from each of the AW openings since 2000.
All of those assault weapons be they “named”, “features”,”Self-built/nullet button” or “other” are listed exactly the same on AFS. It’s not possible for an officer on the side of the road to see how the guns entered the registry nor is the officer on the side of the road normally qualified to determine which registration got my AW’s into the registry. All the officer will know is that it’s a registered AW which means it is exempt of the features ban. If you put a stock on an “other”, it’s a rifle. No law against that.

My AR's already have linear compensators fitted. Check that requirement off.

They also have a rubber stock stuffer, set to my ideal length. Check that requirement off.

They have Sparrow grips, very comfy and natural to grip. Out of state I leave them on, used to them and they provide interesting discussions. Check that requirement off.

Not registering weapons with Excemento with their ridiculous rules on sales and use, priceless.

I like my shoulder thing to be able to go up.

I did some casual moving and shooting before, tried the fin grip vs a bullet buttoned AR. I found I liked to adjust my stock in the middle of a stage because I'd hold my rifle differently for longer unsupported standing shots. Also liked the security of my hand fully around a grip when moving quickly and pulling a mag out with the other hand.

Sorry maybe none of this helps because you can't do a BB AR anymore, but if the Kingpin works similar speed as a BB, I'd still like my grip and adjustable stock.

Yeah but it's not the officer that will be prosecuting you. It will be the DOJ who has access to the AW registration portal. Also, you are incorrect about the officer not knowing what features are banned. I had an officer check my RAW and checked with the DOJ on the legality and registration, so therefore the officer doesn't need to know or be qualified to determine what AW you have; all the officer has to do is run your serial with the DOJ and the DOJ will make the determination on the fly. And when I say on the fly, I mean on the fly as in I had 5 officers and their supervising sergeant use their department supplied iphone to take pictures of my RAW on the fly and send them to the DOJ real time and the DOJ came back with their verdict. The DOJ and the police magistrate make the decision and the officer's job is to put cuffs on you when they find out you cheated the system. You are forgetting that when you registered your bullet button AW, you were required to send a picture of the features and different angles before getting approved for AW registration. It's really up to you to stay compliant. I woudn't live my life on the edge.

Wow it's rare that kinda thing actually gets checked, curious what the context was but obviously no worries if you don't want to share in a public forum

I was researching last night about compmags, maglocks, etc and just decided to keep my rifles featureless. The fin grip's are not pretty but I don't want to buy a special mag or drill my lower or whatever it needs to be done either.
For me, the fin makes the weapon useless. I keep my features, install a MagLock (which can be removed in about thirty seconds) and at the range I reload through the door in the fixed mag. Other shooters at the range just pop off the fixed mag and shoot like it’s a RAW.

I’ve heard of people using the Maglatch to keep it compliant when they transport the firearm then just popping it out at the range.

Every time the AW laws change, the state opens the AW registry.
Every time you have the OPTION to register an AW, do it.
Most people are afraid to register and those are the people that have to play the featureless vs fixed-mag game.
I missed the window last time and the mini window as well, fml

Officer used "plain view" excuse which was totally bs and illegal since it was not "plain view". The firearms were in inside range bag and were all locked with a california approved lock. There's no law in California that they have to be in a vault or whatever. As long as they are locked with a California approved locked, they are stored properly. Cased firearms are not "plain view".

I took my mag release button pictures straight-on so you can not see how much it sticks out of the receiver.
I still have my CARBB magazine release buttons on my BBRAW's and you can't tell if they are adjusted in or out in the pictures provided to CalDOJ.
The regulations state that I can not change the button except to replace with the same style and I have not replaced them.
The regulations only pertain to the registration process.
Regulations are not laws.
I have received my registration letters showing that the registration process is completed.
There are no laws saying you can't adjust the button.
You have to break a law to be charged.

I have yet to do anything dumb enough to have an officer check a single one of my AW's so what were you doing to catch their attention?

There's a big difference between regulations and staying compliant. Sure change whatever you want like I said it's up to you to stay compliant. No one is questioning you. You don't need to do anything dumb to get your AWs checked lmao you just need to run into a dumb law enforcement officer. I've seen Sherrifs check AWs at the range lol. You are breaking the law if you're not compliant. Just because you're not doing anything dumb to get your AWs checked doesn't mean you can break the law lmao - that's typical criminal mentality where they keep breaking laws because they think they won't get caught because they're not doing anything dumb to attract attention lol.

People can do whatever they want. I go to the range and see some people just change out their receivers(no maglock) then put it back on when they're done. No one was arguing that. You can adjust, change and do whatever you want it's your gun. You're missing the point. I'm not talking about your button sticking out of the receiver by "2mm", "6ft", "1inch", blah blah and so on....

That's bull💩, I don't even think it has to be a special lock so they definitely didn't have probable cause.

If it's a featureless rifle, I believe it doesn't have to be locked inside a case. Your trunk can act as a lock.

Yeah unfortunately when they see a big black scary rifle they panic. Had it been a mini-14, maybe they probably would not have bothered with it. Lol mini-14 is just as an effective firearm. But it's all about perception. The same goes for ignorant law makers banning "Assualt Weapons" because they look "scary".

I did try maglock + kingpin and gave it up. I practiced for hours and it wasn't intuitive enough for me. I ended up going featureless.

Your rifle just needs to be unloaded, it doesn't need to be in a locked container unless you're near a school zone.

Funny enough the range I go to most frequently is right next door to a High School... Not sure how they swung that but what can you do

I use a Compmag because it takes me roughly 10 seconds to take it out and have the weapon completely normal. That could of course only be done across state lines….🤓
