Why do you compete?

For fun! It’s been a year and still learning.
Kinda sucks there is nowhere to train here in the South Bay. LARG range allows rapid fire and that’s about as good as it gets.
Luckily we now have MGR running matches in Morgan Hill.

Yeah it’s not dirt cheap like playing $20 steam video games or something but other than the ammo costs it’s relatively not that bad. A lot of hobbies get wayyyy more expensive lol. Flying.. cars, motorcycles

Expensive is what you have to carry on the side to keep the hobby going: insurance, prenap, flowshop subscription to sweeten the deal with better half

Yeah, no more public or indoor ranges for me after getting into action pistol. Not to mention those environments are way more sketchy than competitions.

I love my private outdoor range haha. Perfect for action pistol training. Only $250 for the year. Show up whenever you want, 0800-1600, all year round.

I haven't got the golf bug yet, but my wife doesn't usually ask to come to a shooting competition.

This 72 year old Limited A shooter just shot his first match in 21 years today. 99 degree heat, too much steel and having only been shooting indoor for the last 8 months all got the better of me and I SUCKED! Old school STI 40 and 175+ major PF ammo I had left. But I had a lot of fun. Can't wait to get back and get much better!

Competition has been the biggest boon for my shooting development in the past 15 years, and I've done the whole gamut of Tac Timmy training classes. Most importantly though, I love the community. Made some really great friends at matches and it's fun to see each other every weekend, race against each other, then head to the range bar for a few drinks and hanging out post-match.

Can do more than shooting at a normal gun range plus it provides an opportunity to shoot with some stress on you which helps get you familiar with it. Hopefully that helps if I need to defend myself.
