Who carries a weapon light on your CCW?

My subcompact came with a TLR-6. Can't see myself taking it off as it doesn't really change the concealabilty or outward dimensions. That said, I may get a similar setup for my compact. I have a TLR-1 on my full-size. Much bigger, so unclear if it'll find a new home; I'll need to carry more with it before I make that call.

House guns, yes I have lights. Carry pistols I don’t. I do have a handheld flashlight on me. Not completely sure if I can or can’t for the county I live in (Alameda). If I can, I may eventually do it but not somethign I stress about due to the hand held light.

I carry a TLR-7x on my HK p2000 but it does double duty as my HD gun. I will admit it’s mostly there as a counterweight. It points better with the light than not

It would take me much longer to create a holster for it... but I'm sure it could be done.

I run the TLR-1HL on my carry guns. Allows me to use them with the same holster, T1C MSP Pro FLX. The bulk doesn't bother me and I'm able to carry all day comfortably.

Other than for that purpose, i don't really need the light since i always carry a pocket light. It's just nice not to have to get separate holsters for each gun.

Handheld flashlight only. I don’t want to have to point a loaded weapon at something in order to identify it.



Not to mention, if it ends up being a non-threat/bystander, I don’t want to become a potential suspect in an assault or brandishing case.

I don’t intend to use a WML on my carries but I get it and I use one with home defense weapon.

It makes sense to disable a threat using a high power light. It’s hard for an offender to shoot or fight when their eyes are “burnt”.

You could possibly take them down to apprehend and all they will be able to see is a pink blob from the eye burn.

Nightstand gun absolutely, carry guns absolutely not. I’m not a cop, i’m not clearing a parking lot or random store.

That being said I always have a streamlight and pocket knife on me. Pocket knife since I was a kid, light as soon as they came out with the pocket mag light i’ve had some kind of light on me.

Glock makes them. Compatible with TLR7 holsters. TLR performs better but I just use this because it looks better. Yeah I know, silly

Just adding that one light did make it slightly more uncomfortable. I am considering removing it. As many have posted here, I just may get a small extra light to carry.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Usually depends on what time of day I'm going to be out & some of my work details require it. I think each individual has to make the choice for themselves & their situation.

I do have a light bearing/non light bearing holster for every gun.

Biggest thing is no matter what everyone should be carrying a standalone handheld light.

Exactly.

I don’t know why people automatically assume that if you have a WML, you’re going to use it for searching, identifying, or whatever else. That argument is getting seriously overplayed - right up there with “don’t use a red dot because the battery might die.” Seriously?

I don’t use my WML that way. That’s why I carry a separate handheld light. But then again, I actually take formal training and practice this stuff...
