Who carries a weapon light on your CCW?

Question for those out there - who carries a weapon light on their CCW? I have a couple of larger guns with them but don’t carry them as much. (M&P 2.0 with a compact weapon light in a Tenicor holster).

I’m considering mounting one to my Shield X but was wondering what everyone else’s experience has been. Holsters? Comfort, etc.

I have the Foxtrot365xr on my P365 for my main CCW pistol. Small and doesn't add much to the overall size. Worth it since I tend to do most of my walks outside after work when it's cooler and the sun is going down. Can be dark by the time I get back home. I of course always carry a second flashlight, but you'll never know when you'll need that second hand for something else when the time comes...

I carry a separate handheld when I’m out at night or go somewhere that’s low light (theater)

Not knocking on those who do but I’m not a cop clearing rooms or buildings in public so I’m not using my WML to identify targets

I do have one for HD though

I don’t . I use to, but yea just as you suspect, it’s more uncomfortable. Also, the use of a weapon light in a real world DGU situation is almost non existent. John with active self protection did his own little research, and out of about 40,000 shootings he’s reviewed over the years, only 1 person used their weapon mounted light and they didn’t even really need to use it.

Yeah exactly. Never used one in the military on a pistol lol. I think it's a little bit fantasy. My home guns do have a light though

That said, I’m reconsidering the G19 - not because of the added bulk or weight, but because I find that holsters designed to accommodate a WML seem to leave a slight gap around the trigger guard. That opening concerns me from a safety standpoint. Albeit, I always carry a handheld.

Tactical/defensive in a OWB will always have a WML.

I have a WML on my home defense handgun. Don’t have lights on my CCW guns. I always carry a handheld flashlight in my pocket and have one on my nightstand as well.

Rationale is if I am drawing my CCW I better have already identified a threat therefore do not need a flashlight.

Streamlight TLR7a on off-duty XMacro, Surefire X300T on Staccato C2 at work.

I never carried a light on an off-duty gun until recently. I had to draw my gun to prevent a homeless man from following through on his verbal threats towards me to”kick your f***ing ass” while waving a metal rod over his head like he was gonna lasso a steer with a rope while walking towards me. He was about 30-ish feet away, in the predawn darkness (5am in March), backlit by a street lamp so I never saw his face. Suspect turned and walked away when I drew. Called 911 and cops arrested him nearby, a known homeless meth user in the city.

He got charged with a bunch of stuff. Some charges were dropped, the rest were reduced. He undednup spending 12 days in jail for it, with 3 years of probation.
