Where do you wear a sidearm when wearing plate carrier/kit?

Just a question out of curiosity. I have seen a lot of people wear place their handgun holsters on a battle belt, but I have also seen others swear by wearing the handgun on their thigh instead. Alternatively, there are also those who claim to have recent war experience that prefer to affix the handgun on a chest rig or carrier instead.

What do you prefer and why? Are there specific advantages?

On their thigh? Do you just mean a common drop leg holster? That’s the most common I would assume, enough to clear the vest or plates, allow an easy draw from a rested position, and a thigh strap for stability while moving.

Same setup, with or without plates: Safariland mid-ride, mounted from belt level using a battle belt or equivalent. Why? Consistency. Whether it’s for defensive training, competition, or tactical LARPing in plates, the draw remains the same. It also keeps things simple - one universal setup across the board.

OWB Vedder Lightdraw or I've used my IWB holster once before. I had a drop leg when I was in the military but honestly I feel like that's out of fashion these days. Sucks to run with

I've had mine on my belt for many years for larp, same belt I use to shoot competition. I keep the handle right about at the belt line because that's what works best for me.
