What's a long lasting way to refinish a glock slide?

What are my options to refinish a used Glock slide? I've heard cerokote doesn't last so what would be a good option? Anyone in NorCal can do it?

The black nitride that a lot of the mail in services offer will be the most like an OEM finish. You might find someone local who offers it.

Jagerwerks. If you are only sending in for black nitride, but not buying optic cut from them; they expect you to disassemble the slide internals and also iron sights/optics. If buying optic cut, they will disassemble for you. They take longer but I am satisfied with my black nitride finish from them; looks better than the current Oem Glock gen 3 finish.

I’m actually a fan of Cerakote. It does wear but for a working firearm, I’m good with that. Plus touch ups are easy.

That’s possible I didnt look. Without searching I wouldn’t be surprised if CA restricted the nitride process for some reason.

Yes, black nitride finishing is available in CA. There are several places in San Diego that offer it.

I'm sure there's metal finishing places in NorCal that offer it too.

Cerakote definitely does not last as long.

I'm also in NorCal; I found myself sending out my slides to SoCal / out of state for work done. I'm sure there's people that do it, but I couldn't find any in NorCal.

I seriously think the DLC is worth the cost.
Haven't found any NorCal places but it doesn't cost much to ship it out.

Not Norcal, but Wilson Combat ARMOR-TUFF isn't cheap but 5 years of edc didn't put a single mark on my G31G4.

I was quoted oem slide refinishing earlier this year, “Glock offers a best effort refinish existing nitride finishes for $50.00 with no tax.”

If you send directly back to glock, they’ve been reputed to do extra work for you too- like swap out new sights and recoil spring assemblies, make sure all durable parts are to spec for free. I haven’t sent mine in yet, but their customer service is reputed to be very good.

Great point. Got that done on a G22G4 years ago - like new after. Reason I sent my G31G4 to Wilson was that Glock had stopped that service at the time (Covid?). Good to hear Glock are back doing it.

Too bad Lone Wolf Distributing no longer offers this. I had them nitride a factory Glock 19 slide back when they offered the service for only $24.95 and it came out looking exactly like OEM nitride finish.

I have used Maple Leaf Firearms, they did a nice job nitride finishing my M&P Shield slide for $50. Their nitride finish looks great, but is a little smoother than the factory Glock finish. https://www.mapleleaffirearms.com/bn/
