What would be a considered a good deal on a 10/22?

It doesn't matter what's considered a good deal. In the history of mankind, no one has bought a gun (or a vehicle) without the first words out of their mouths as they tell their friends, "And I got a great deal"!

Not true, I’ll buy a gun boat or car and realize that I paid too much for it but I got what I wanted.

10/22 are great, I have 2. One is bone stock exactly how it I found it under the Christmas tree in 1979. The other one was a rusted out mess I paid $10 for and transferred it with a few other guns. I spent way too much money and time refurbishing it but I love it!

I see what you did there but no, they’re two different guns. The more recent edition has a parkerized barrel now and the receivers has cerrokote. The front site was broken and was replaced with a fiber optic FSP. The internals well greased and in almost new condition. Like a Tijuana hooker on the outside but a virgin where it counts.

I hear you about going for a used one, but the 10/22 goes on sale often. I'd still buy a base mode new and then mod it. Love the 10/22. I put mine in a hogue stock and replaced the barrel with a fluted Tac Sol about a decade ago. Still going strong.

Why would it? You're only paying the FFL for the transfer, not the firearm itself.

no, it does not apply to PPT beacuse the tax is plaid by the FFL when they make purchases.

Used not abused 10/22s & Mosberg 500s used to be floating around everywhere for a hunnerd bucks. I still have a couple of each bought at that price or less. Was given a 10/22 as payment for a water pump installed on a slant 6 in the mid '70s. Turned around and traded that rifle for a Beretta M71 Jaguar. In the olden days, when Cash & Carry reigned supreme, all manner of firearm were available on the street. PAX

Hey all. I'm considering picking up a lightly used 10/22. I've owned plenty of pistols, but only one other long gun.

What's considered a good deal on a 10/22? There's a ton of variants and options. I'm looking for something a little more than the base model rifle, but not something too tricked out. I believe these are highly customizable, though I'd prefer something like a modern synthetic stock, some sort of optic for plinking (magnifier scope or red dot), and maybe a target-grade barrel.

I'm looking to spend between $250-400 before any parts I'd add/buy - is that realistic? Thanks in advance.

Good post. I just purchased a brand new base model 10/22 from a fellow cagunner last week for $175.00. I realize that this price is well below market price. Be patient and you will find a good deal. Most prices for a used 10/22 are around $225 - $300. Good luck!!
