You already answered question 1 with your summary of a featureless rifle. The answer is no, you cannot use +10 mags with a fixed mag gun. Thanks for the great info everyone!
In summary
Option A: Go featureless (with fin grip/paddle grip) and regular mag release with 10 round mags.
A featureless rifle (in California) is one that does not have any of the following:
A featureless rifle allows the use of detachable magazines and lawfully owned standard-capacity magazines.
- pistol grip
- thumbhole stock
- telescoping/folding stock
- flash hider
- grenade or flare launcher
- forward pistol grip
Option B: (disassembly to swap mags), but with pistol grip
- AR Maglock, Juggernaut Tactical Hellfighter, Comp Mag
Question 1:
If I have legally acquired +10 magazines, are they acceptable to use in the Option B version?
Question 2:
If I did register my BB AR under the AB1135/SB880 window, dose this change my options? Can I go back to a regular mag release on this AR, or stay with the BB?

Let's just say everything in the safe has been disassembled until I am right with California Gun Jesus. Some things I know there is no easy path forward, and they have been promoted to De-Milled and recycled.

For question 2, if you have a BBRAW my understanding is you have to leave the BB on. You cannot install a standard mag release. I think CA considers BBRAWs another type/class of RAW. This topic is somewhat up for debate, with some people saying you can install a standard mag release. It's not clear, and I don't think this has been tested in court. But I think you can take the parts off of it and use them on another lower for a featureless build. For example, leave the BBRAW lower alone and make the upper featureless and use it on a featureless lower.
