What are the chances CMP will sell a Cali Compliant M14?

Don't think these are good deals anymore, and most Cmp guns seem to be a mixed lot with no history. Just buy a Springer or a Fulton.

If they’re offered to CA, I’ll be definitely throwing my hat in the ring for one of these.

I got two of the 1911’s when they were still by lottery. First one was ‘ok’ (heavy park) but the second one was exactly what I was hoping for (US&S slide/Colt frame with original finish).

As much as I hate to admit it, the last 4-5 years of Garand from the Philippines are definitely the bottom of the barrel. Hopefully the M14 will be more like the 1911. At least those came from US Military armories and most were properly cared for.

A USGI surplus converted M14? Hell yeah! I'm definitely in. Probably the most exciting gun to come out of the CMP. They should all be C&Rs too (over 50 years old)?

If you're buying it for the history / lineage, go for it.

But if you want something to shoot, I'd personally get an LRB rear lug.

Don't forget the SC took up Viramontes for next session, by this time next year it's likely that flash hiders won't be so "dangerous" and it won't matter

Now, I feel deflated and bumbed out.
So, here is a question as I am not a lawyer, and I never played one on TV, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express.
I understand the Assault Weapons fixed magazine vs featureless, but is ther not an exception for a rifle older than 50 years old? Is this not a C&R, and are those exempt? Do you think there is a chance these will be denied sale here?

There is no C&R exemption for AWs.

The only thing we can hope for is that the CMP will be willing to remove the FH prior to shipping.

If they aren’t, then it will be the secondary market and using a middleman FFL.

I saw a CMP M14. Now its gone

The CMP made M14 is a commercial, aftermarket M14 "style" rifle-Not the US GI M14 that was issued in the late 1950's-1960's.

The rifles you listed are M1 Garand-totally different animal.
