Went out for a planted pheasant hunt

Yesterday, I got a call around 5:45 am from a friend to see if I could fill in for a guy that couldn't make the hunt.
The catch was that I needed to be there around 7:30.

Luckily, the girlfriend is pretty understanding about these things.

I hastily put together my stuff and off I went.
It was a 1/2 day hunt behind a couple of Brittany Spaniels. My first time hunting with Brittanys.
They worked hard and did a pretty good job.
I really enjoy being out there with dogs.

It was warm and dry with an occasional barely perceptible breeze, not the best conditions for the dogs, but we all had a good time.
We contacted 2/3 of the planted birds and shot most of those.

Had I known in advance that I was going, I would have gone to the range for a little practice last week.
On a couple birds, I shot like , no excuses.

All in all, a pretty good day out hunting with friends and dogs.

It will have to be the next time, all I have are the breasts.
I hope to be going again in February/March.
If I don't go, I'll ask the guys I went with to save some for me.

Yes, it was at the High Desert Hunt Club in Gorman.
